With all honesty, our group were pressured to really make the activity happen due to

all the deadlines we need to manage. Without hesitation we took advantage of our vacant

hours in the morning (February 27, 2018/Wednesday) to prepare for the materials needed

and get everyone knowledgeable of the activity to be carried out. It is with God’s grace that

we were able to get the preparations done. The flow of activity was visualized. IMs were

ready. And simple tokens were packed.

In the afternoon, we were gathered around 1p.m slightly downhearted that the time

we have chosen was not fit for activities like this. It was too hot outside and most children

were having their nap. But, these initial problems were not able to hinder our eagerness to

make the activity plan materialized.

We went to Barangay 3 and started and started looking for some kids. We found

about four of them and suddenly more of them came willing to participate. Thanks to their

supportive parents as well. The activity started with a prayer for guidance and for its

success. We did managed to get everything fall into place accordingly. The children were

very participative doing some math operations and pointing out parts of the human body.

They also identified different colors, vegetables and fruits. They have also amazingly shared

their own understanding and reflections toward a story we had read and a short digital story

they had watched.

My initial mind set was that, I am doing this for a subject requirement. But later as I

indulge myself with the kids, I just found myself enjoying the whole activity. There was an

unexplainable feeling knowing that for once you were able to impart and share something

with these kids. Here comes the realization that--- I guess, I am really in the right track for a

career. I could never hope for another profession with such humbleness and nobility like
this. Teaching and social work isn’t easy but this is something I feel very passionate about.

What a tiring job yet very heart warming.

The activity ended with token-giving and words of gratitude to the children and to

the parents as well. We parted ways and bid goodbyes with all the smiles on our faces.

What a fulfilling job it is to touch other’s lives with simple acts of volunteerism like this. In

the end, the activity was a success. For me, it is a two way street learning. They learn

something while also enabling us to be more understanding with people around us

especially children. We live in this world for a purpose to accomplish and this is something

worth living for. Looking forward for more Community Involvement Program like this.
