350Z; SPECIAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
FLUID REQUIREMENTS
APPLIED VEHICLE: 2003 350Z (Z33)

SERVICE INFORMATION
If the automatic transmission in the 350Z (Z33) requires service, a new type of
automatic transmission fluid MUST be used. The new fluid is Nissan Matic-J.
The New Nissan Matic-J
• Nissan’s new 5-speed automatic transmission contains internal components that require
the use of Nissan Matic-J automatic transmission fluid only!
• Only Nissan Matic-J (P/N 999MP-MTJ00P) is specially formulated to meet the exacting
requirements of this new RE5R05A transmission.
CAUTION:
• Do NOT use any other A/T fluid for this transmission, use only Nissan Matic-J.
• Use of any other automatic transmission fluid (such as Nissan Matic D) will cause
deterioration in driveability and transmission durability.
• If this new transmission is damaged by the use of any other A/T fluid, it may not be
covered by NISSAN warranty.

ATF Level Indicator

• To help prevent accidental use of ATF other than Nissan Matic-J, the fluid level indicator
is bolted in place.
• To use the level indicator the securing bolt must be removed.
• After the ATF level has been checked, reinstall the securing bolt. Torque to
4.4 - 5.8 N·m (0.45 - 0.59 kg-m, 39 - 51 in-lb).

CLAIMS INFORMATION
NOTE: Nissan Matic-J is the ONLY approved ATF for use in Nissan's new 5-speed
automatic transmission (RE5R05A). A claim to Nissan for warranty, service contract, or
goodwill repairs to the RE5R05A transmission may be denied if genuine Nissan Matic-J
ATF is not used as specified in this bulletin.
