Who are the
Filinnials and
Millennials?
Millennials and Filinnials

Also known as 'Generation Y' or the Term used to denote the Filipino
'Net Generation'. Millennials .
Filipino Millennial Generation.
1970s to early 1980s as starting birth
years and mid 1990s to early 2000s
as ending birthyears. Name given to Filipino Millennials.

Millennials are generally the children


of baby boomers and older Gen
Xers.

The center for Generational Kinetics mention five (5) generations that presently make
up our society and specifies birth years for each generation as follows:

Fr. Armand Robleza (2016), explains that Filipino


millennials are open to seeking global opportunity,
demand flexible work schedules, and value work-
life balance, as supported by the findings of
Department of Labor and Employment which
found fresh graduates to be picky. They are also
hardworking, ambitious, socially and virtually
connected.
What are some Challenges of Filipino
Millennials right now?
According to Manulife’s new study, the top concerns
that Millennials and Generation Z are grappling with
during the pandemic are: running out of money,
getting sick, losing their lives or their loved ones,
declining mental health, and drowning in debt. These
are their top stressors, which have pushed them to
prioritize staying healthy and saving money. In fact, as
87% of them are worried about uncertainties in the
future, most of them save so they can protect
themselves against an unfortunate future event,
continue to fund their daily living expenses, and
support their family’s future needs.
What are the characteristics of the
Filinnials?
Emerging millennial market

They value authenticity.


They want to be rewarded for their loyalty.
They favor word-of-mouth recommendation.
They are tech-savvy.
They will pay for experience.
They are socially conscious.
They are socially conscious.
They love good content.
What are some challenges that the
Millennials are facing right now?
COVID-19.
Racism / Discrimination.
Technology addiction.
Financial concerns / Debt.
Unemployment / Low paying jobs / Job insecurity.
Economic issues.
Climate change.
Social media.
Here Are Seven (7) Problems
Millennials Face Today
Student Debt. It's more common for millennials
to have postsecondary degrees than older
generations.
Unemployment.
Lower Wages.
Job Environment.
Housing Costs.
Caring for Aging Parents.
Mental Health Concerns.
Millennials are also labeled as the “Boomerang
Generation” or “Peter Pan generation,” because of
their perceived tendency for delaying some rites of
passage into adulthood for longer periods than most
generations before them and for living with their
parents for longer periods than previous
generations.
Millennials are likely the most studied and
talked about this generation to date. They are
the first generation in history that have grown
up totally immersed in a world of digital
technology, which has shaped their identities
and created lasting political, social, and cultural
attitudes.
