STEEL NOTES :

UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED,


1. All steelworks to be weldable steel grade 43A or S275
to BS4360 or BS EN 1025 respectively.
2. Minimum throat thickness of fillet weld shall be at least
the thickness of the welded parental material
3. All butt weld to be full penetration butt weld.
Thickness of butt weld shall be the same as the welded
parental material.
4. For butt weld, all impurities and irregularities on the surface
shall be removed by grinding or other means before welding.
5. All welders must possess Shell's valid welders license.
6. Power brush or sand blasting to scrub all rush, dirt or mill scale to
expose the original steel metal surface and immediate protect the metal
surface with the Primer Coating specified.

7. SURFACE PREPARATION:
The following types of surface preparation grades (ref. Swedish Standard
SIS 05 5900) are the minimum required for steel surfaces.

8. Painting Work
(a) All steelwork shall be primed and painted to protect against corrosion

(b) Coating system shall be as specified below:
Primer coat shall consist of one coat of ICI Dulux Fast Drying
Grey Green Zinc Phosphate Primer A500-13562
Top coat shall consist of two coats of ICI Dulux Single Packed Corrosion
Resistant DTM Coating A363-Line.
(c) No painting is to be carried out until S.O's approval has been obtained.
Each coat shall be inspected and approved before subsequent coat is being

applied.
(d) Any irregularity in painting shall be smoothened by grinding to level with
parent material.
9. The contractor shall arrange and carry out testing of weld according to
