INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS

1. This assignment contains question that is set in English.

2. Answer in English.

3. Learners are to submit assignment only in MsWord (.docx) format unless specified otherwise.
Please refrain from converting text / phrases into picture format such as .gif / .jpeg / print
screen / etc.

4. Download the language version of the assignment template concerned from the myINSPIRE
for preparation and submission of your assignment. Your assignment should be typed using
12 point Times New Roman font and 1.5 line spacing.

5. Your assignment should be between 3,000 words to 5,000 words excluding references. The
number of words should be shown at the end of your assignment. Do not copy the
assignment question and instructions to your answer.

You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment online through myINSPIRE and a
hardcopy to your facilitator.

 Online student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment via myINSPIRE and another softcopy to
the facilitator via e-mail.

7. You can submit your assignment ONCE only in a SINGLE file.

8. Your assignment must be submitted by 16th April 2017.

9. Your assignment should be prepared individually. You should not copy another person’s
assignment. You should also not plagiarise another person’s work as your own.

10. Please ensure that you keep the RECEIPT issued upon submisson of your assignment as proof
of submission. Your assignment is considered as NOT submitted if you fail to produce the
submission receipt in any dispute arises concerning assignment submission.

EVALUATION
This assignment accounts for 70% of the total marks for the course and shall be assessed based on
the Rubrics attached.

You would be given feedback on the assignment before the Final Semester Examination commences.

ASSIGNMENT 2 : QUESTION

PURPOSE

The purpose of this assignment is to enable you to analyse and discuss entrepreneurial business
practices at leading organizations. You will also learn to propose improvement ideas based on
model, theories, framework, and concepts of entrepreneurship and by referring to best practices at
benchmark organisations.

REQUIREMENT

Select ONE well known international organisation from the food industry which started its
entrepreneurial venture as a small business. Analyse and discuss TWO other well known companies
which have been exemplary in their entrepreneurial initiatives. Propose and discuss how the
selected organisation can be further improved by refereeing to the practices of the exemplary
organisations and also by applying model, theories, framework and concepts of entrepreneurship.

provided text book. Justify your answers.

1. Description and background of the selected international organization.

Weighting: 10%
Award a maximum of 10 marks by using the following rubric.
Mark Criteria
9-10 Very clear and focused introduction including a detailed description of the organisation
including the name, type of business, vision and mission, types of products and / or
services and employee size. The information provided is well supported by data.
7-8 An above average introduction. A clear and detailed description of the organisation
including aspects from the name, type of business, vision and mission, types of
products and / or services and employee size. There is not enough sufficiently
supported data for the provided information.
5-6 A semi focused introduction. Clear and detailed description of the organisation
including 2 aspects from the name, type of business, vision and mission types of
products and / or services and employee size. There is not supporting data for the
information provided.
3-4 The introduction is superficially produced without providing a clear introduction on the
selected organisation. There is no supporting data for the information provided.
0-2 A poorly defined introduction without clarity or focus. No description of the
organisation was given.

2. Analyse and discuss TWO other well known companies which have been exemplary in their
entrepreneurial initiatives. Focus on their ideas/opportunities, management team, strategy,
marketing plan and business ownership.

Mark Criteria
15-20 Analysis and proposal was comprehensive. There was a smooth flow to sentences and
the discussion demonstrated an exceptional ability to justify the key points of the
proposal.
9-14 Analysis and proposal was good with an above average justification. The discussion was
adequately done and demonstrated good justification for the key points of the
proposal.
3-8 Analysis and proposal given was fairly stated. Partial justification was given for the key
points of the proposal.

1-2 Analysis and proposal was superficially discussed. The justification for key points of the
proposal was poorly done with disjointed sentences. The discussion demonstrated a
