Version 1.51
14th December 2005
I wasn't able to update the faq for the past month due to some work and study
commitments. However, I've updated the faq on the Ultra mode and how to get all
100 points, which many gamers are having trouble with. Will be including tips
in the next update.
Added:
- Dodge and Dodge attack section added under tutorial
- Updated Ultra Mode
- Secrets and Unlockables

Version 1.00
8th November 2005
Just bought the game a few days ago and only started playing yesterday. Was
rather surprised there wasn't any FAQ on this game so decided to make one. I've
yet to even clear half of Ultra mode, thus the lack of information. Please email
me on any information which you can provide. Credit will be given if your info
is useful and used in this FAQ. My email is: psyke0808@yahoo.com.sg
I need more information on the Ultra mode unlockables, as well as the Nebula
Combos of the Kaiju in the game. Please contribute!
================================================================================
2) Introduction
================================================================================
Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth is the 4th in a series of games for the
Playstation and the Playstation 2. The first game was released in Japan for
the Playstation 1 in 1998. Ultraman Fighting Evolution 2 and 3 were subsequently
released for the Playstation 2 later. The latest installment comes in a new
overhaul and gets a new name as well. There are alot of improvements made in
this game, most significantly the graphical enhancements as well as the new
combat system. The number of characters may not be as many as UFE3, but this
game still has many Ultra fans all over the world excited due to the new
characters and the newly improved special move cutscenes which rock.
Unfortunately, this game will never get a US release and is thus limited to a
Japanese audience. However, this FAQ aims to provide the necessary information
required for a non-Japanese speaking fan to fully enjoy the game and to unlock
the true potential of the game, especially in the Ultra mode. As of this writing
this FAQ is far from complete, and I would require the help of other gamers
who know more of the game then I do.
The reason I'm doing this FAQ is because of the lack of one over at GameFaqs.
I do not play the game that extensively, and thus most of the information here
is found on the official site as well as forums. I am merely compiling the
information I get while surfing/playing. Hopefully, it will help the fans to
enjoy the game better. If there are any mistakes found or anything that you
would like to contribute, please drop me a email at: psyke0808@yahoo.com.sg.
Alternatively you can visit www.ultramanlah.com. I visit the forums there
regularly under the alias "Psyke". This is not the first time I've written a
faq. I've done several more a few years back, but they were mostly combo
guides or chracter guides. This is the first time I'm doing a faq for a full
game, so please pardon me if the faq seems a little messy.
If you are looking for informations on the Ultras, do pay a visit to my site
as well: Ultra no Sekai (http://ultranosekai.50webs.com) I am also part of
another bigger fan site known as Ultraman Lah! It's a fan club for the
Singapore Ultrafan Community and has links to the latest episodes of Ultraman
Nexus and Ultraman Max. There are also lots of information and sypnosis of
weekly episodes, and as well as exlusive images/music/video in the forum.
You can find other topics on Japanese Toku, as well as post queries on the
Ultraman games there too. Check it out.

Here are the information you need to work through the Japanese menus and as
well as to control your character. I've translated the menus for both the
tutorial mode as well as the options.

Nebula Combos
-------------
This is one of the new features of the series. Combos used to be limited to
the routine Square X 3, but now at least there is some variety to your normal
combos. It's nothing ingenious or clever, but it IS awesome to watch.
Every character has his own method of starting his Nebula Combo. For some
characters it's simply his Combo Attack botton, for others it may be a jump
attack or a grab. For eg. Ultraman's Nebula Combo (hence forth NC for short)
starts with a grab.
After Ultraman performs his Circle grab animation, a meter will above on the
top below the power bar. Once the first button flashes, imeddiately hit the
shown button and the combo will start. Different characters have different
number of chains and combos, but all of them are done in the same manner.
Specials
--------
Each character has a number of specials at his disposal. In order to use these
specials, you would need to charge your special meter located on the top of
the screen. There are 3 levels altogether, and the higher level you have,
the more poweful special you can execute.
The R1 button is used to charge your special meter. Once you have at least 1
bar full, you can use your level 1 special move. Level 1 specials are usually
the easiest to pull off as the level 1 meter fills up very fast. The level 2
meter fills up slower and the level 3 bar fills up reaaaaally slow.
The good thing about level 3 specials is that they are sure kill moves. Any
character's level 3 special move will instantly kill the opponent. But this
doesn't happen regularly as the level 3 meter takes an eternity to fill up.
When the opponent's health bar is empty, the word "FINISH" will appear at the
top of the screen, and you can then execute level 3 special moves even if
you did not have your special meter charged up.
You will find that the highlight of this game are the special moves. They look
great and are really fun to watch. But I feel that they are a little too long
and it looses its appeal especially after the CPU does it to you over and over
again. It would be better if there is a way to shorten the animation after
you've seen it once.
Evading Specials
----------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Menus & Modes of Play
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon inserting the game to your PS2, the game loads up and checks whether you
have a memory card inserted. If no, the game will ask you whether it is fine
to carry on with the game. If yes, the game will automatically load your saved
settings from the previous game.
The following are the modes of play that you can choose from.
- Ultra Mode
- Battle Mode
- Vs Mode
- Tutorial
- Practice Mode
- Options
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ultra Mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this mode you cannot select your character. There are 13 missions in all,
and for every mission your character as well as the CPU character is already
pre-selected. There are also a number of requirements & rules for a few of the
missions. Ranks are given after every mission, and you can unlock certain stuff
if you reach "S" rank. More details will be given in the Ultra Mode section.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle Mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this mode you choose your character and fight with 6 CPU controlled
characters. You can choose from any of the default characters or those which
you have unlocked in the Ultra mode. You can also unlock addition items such
as stages in this mode.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vs Mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your standard 1 on 1 mode. Choose either another player or the CPU to be your
opponent. Choose your chracters, stage, and fight it out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tutorial Mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Newbies to the game should definately try this out first. There are some changes
to the combat system since the last game, and the tutorial does a good job here.
Upon entering this mode, the tutorial menu pops up.
Tutorial Menu
-------------
- Movement
- Attack/Throws
- Special moves
- Back to title
Movement
--------
Can't get any simpler than this. Just move the direction forwards or backwards.
Your most basic form of movement in the game. Just repeat 3 times to clear this
section of the tutorial.
2) Running
Double the direction button to get your character running. Run twice to clear.
Mostly used with the X button to grab onto the opponent.
3) Jumping
4) Forward/Backward step
5) Back Somersault
Double tap back to execute a back flip. Good for evading of physical attacks.
Useful for creating space especially when you need to store your special bar.
6) Rolling
7) Side step
Double tap up or down quickly to side step your way out of harm's way.
Applies to physical attacks and some R2 specials but not the R1 specials.
Useful to getting round to your opponent's back.
Attacks/Throws
--------------
1) Combo Attack
Press the Square button to execute a punch. Press forward + Square to execute
a set of combos. Repeat this 6 times to clear the tutorial. You do not need
to hit the kaiju.
2) Just Attack
The Triangle button is the Just Attack. It's a more powerful variation of the
attack button and similarly, you can use certain combinations of the direction
button to create combos. You need to hit the enemy for to clear the stage.
3) Charge Attack
Hold the Circle button and you'll see your character start charging up for
an attack. You need to hold for about 2 seconds for the attack to connect.
4) Jump Attack
Press diagonal up + any attack button at the same time. Take note that you do
not press the attack after your jump. Instead, press the 2 buttons at the same
time and your character will perform a jumping attack.
5) Dodge
Press the back direction button just when you character is about to get hit.
If done correctly, you will successfully dodge the attackw without incurring any
damage.
6) Dodge Attack
While executing the dodge attack, press either Square, Circle, or Triangle to
attack the opponent while dodging an attack. You would need to time the buttons
carefully as it's pretty tricky.
7) Throws
Press X while you are near to the opponent. Your character will lunge forward
in an attempt to grab the opponent. If done successfully, you then have the
options to choose from either X, Triangle, Square, Circle to follow up with
either a throw or an attack.
8) Throw Escape
After being grabbed by the opponent, tap Square to break out of the lock.
You would have to enter this relatively fast, before the follow up to the
throw is entered.
Special Moves
-------------
1) Special moves
Straigtforward. Just charge your special meter with R1, and then use either
Square (Level 1), Triangle (Level 2), or Circle (Level 3). The higher the
lever you have in your meter, the higher level of move you can do, and the
more damage you will inflict. Level 3 special moves will kill instantly when
connected.
3) Special Attack
Simply press R2. Ultraman will fire off 3 beam attacks from his hand.
4) Nebula Combo
Grab with X button. Press O to throw Gommora. Notice that 3 O button icons
appear during the throw. DO NOT press anything untill the first icon flashes.
There are timing to adhere for all 3 parts of the combo. Only press the button
when it flashes. Tricky at first but gets much easier after practice.
5) Strength mode
Press O when Gommora swings his tail at you. You will get into a test of
strength with the opponent. The person who presses the O button the most
number of times will win and pushes the other party away with a punch.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Practice Mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You pick a character, pick an opponent, choose a stage, and off you go. Here
you can test all your moves, combos, as well as take a look at everybody's
level 3 special moves.

level 3 special move makes the kaiju leave in peace and if the enemy is another
fellow Ultra, shakes hands with him and leaves off in the setting sun. However,
you can change to 2 other modes, Corona and Eclipse. In Lunar mode, Cosmos's
attacks are extremely slow and limited. Change to Corona mode and you've got
much better attacks. Eclipse mode has a much better maximum special though, as

5) Ultra Mode Guide
===============================================================================
This is the mode which you will spend most of your hours on. It consists of 13
episodes, where the characters you use and fight are pre-selected. Different
episodes have different number of fights as well as special requirements to
clear the stage. After clearing a certain stage, you can now replay it and
view the different mission point requirements. All together there are 100
different missions, meaning 100 mission points to be earned. Each mission may
be as simple as using a certain button to as hard as getting a S rank. Here
I have compiled the mission requirements. I've tested almost all the missions
and am currently at 90 points. I've yet to unlock the last character, Alien
Mephilas yet as some of the missions are really a pain in the butt. Anyway,
I'll try to include tips along the way and in the next upcoming update.

7) Credits & Special Thanks
===============================================================================
Special thanks to the following who have in one way or another helped or
contributed to the faq.
1) www.ultramanlah.com
For hosting my faq and for being the best non Japanese Ultraman fan site.
I feel proud being part of the team and it's great to know there are many other
fans in Singapore.
2) http://matsumurapan.secret.jp/index.html
I took most of the information on the Ultra mode and secrets from this Japanese
website, and simply translated them for this faq. The site also includes tips
and faqs for other PS2 Ultraman games, such as UFE3 and Ultraman Nexus.
Thanks for spending time to help me find the move names as well as the Kaiju
moves. I've yet to add that section in but thanks in advance!
