I know it looks sloppy, but it has all the information you'll need for this and
I tried to make it easy enough to read.
If there are any errors or problems just feel free to let me know. I hope I
explained everything well enough. It's actual very simple once you learn how
everything works.

Every weapon is given a rank from 1 to 5. The lower the rank the better off the
weapon is. Each time you customize the weapon it's rank will increase by one
and will continue increasing each time you do until it reaches rank 5.
Based on the weapon's rank you will have different skills available for the 3rd
slot. The actual skill you can use is based on the level of the items you use
to customize it. Below I have a table listing each of the 5 ranks and what
skills you can expect to find. The FIRST item you should use is the one on the
left with the top one being the second item.
For example-
If you use Luca's weapon Fallen Branch, Rank 1, and want to get the skill
Poison Guard you will have to use a level 2 item first THEN a level 3 for the
second item.
To get the skill Poison Guard you can use a Fire Stone(Level 2) and a
Stun Jelly(Level 3). If I do it right I will have the skill Poison Guard for
the third slot. If you were to do this backwards and do the Stun Jelly first
you would end up with the skill Firm Stance 4.
The first two slots are based on what two items I customized with. Fire Stone
has a common chance of Critical and rare for Fire+. Stun Jelly has common Stun+
and rare Stun++. If I wanted to get a certain combination of those two you can
pick re-examine to basically reroll the results. At lower item level it's not
too hard to get the desired results. Higher level items the chance of getting
something that is not none is A LOT harder. Getting the rare effect on two
level 4 items can take dozens of re-examining. If you want to only change the
second slot you can use a Common Rock for the first slot since it will always
end up with None as it's weapon effect.
It sounds a bit complicated, but once you do it a few times it you will realize
how easy all of this is.
Note- If the skill you want is same rank as the weapon MAKE SURE you get it the
first time. If not the weapon will raise it's rank once you customize and you
will have to buy a new weapon to get the skill. If you have a skill you want,
but want to change the effects be careful to not do a combination that results
in a new skill since you will overwrite the one you wanted to keep.
The best thing to do is to find where the blank skills are and rank up until you
can safely get all the effects you want while keeping the desired skill.

These are the skills you will find in the third slot on a weapon. These also
double as style skills which is how you would normal come across most of these.
The skills appearance on a weapon is directly related to the rank of the
weapon and the two raw materials, as well as the order, that you choose.
