Title:Unit 1 Test Review and Unit 2 Intro

Topic: Early American and Colonial Literature

Lesson Objectives:
SWBAT display their knowledge of Colonial Literature and prepare for the Unit 1 test.
SWBAT to identify the main characteristics of Romanticism.
SWBAT participate in a variety of activities as a whole class and in groups.

Lesson Accommodations:

-Students are provided with examples and sentence frames.


-Students are placed in specific breakout rooms to receive extra support from classmates and teachers.
-Students have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the lesson.
-Students have access to the Nearpod and lesson recording to review at their own pace.

Lesson Overview + Actions


1. Introduction to Lesson:

-Teacher will review class expectations on the Padlet.


-Teacher will review the agenda, objectives, announcements

2. Celebrations!: Time for Self-reflection

-Students will share something positive by adding a post to the Collaborate Board. A few students will share
their responses aloud by unmuting.
-Teacher will read a few posts aloud.

3. Test Review: Interactive collaborative boards, breakout rooms for small group work, and review
game

-Teacher will do a test overview, discuss the study guide, and review the rubrics.
-Students will post one to two things they have learned on the Collaborate Board. Teacher will read their
responses aloud.
-Students will join a breakout to discuss the test essay question. Students will brainstorm ideas with each
other. A teacher will join each room to answer questions and provide examples if needed.
-Students will participate in a review game called Time to Climb. They will answer multiple choice questions
directly from their test. Teacher will discuss the correct answer.

4. Introduction to Unit 2: Video with checks for understanding built in and direct instruction

-Students watch the video on Romanticism and answer three questions. Teacher discusses student
responses.
-Teacher reviews main topics of Romanticism and the authors covered in Unit 2.

5. Wrap Up: Questions

-Teacher will ask if students have any questions. Students will send questions in the chat or ask their
questions by unmuting.
-Teacher will thank students for attending the lesson.

Assessment: Unit 1 Test

-Students are scheduled to take the Unit 1 Test the following day.
-Teacher will review the assessment results.
