Nursing Virtual Social Networks

community.
Purposes:
● exchanging ideas on practice issues and best practices
● to become more knowledgeable about new trends, research, and innovations in health care
● To participate in advocacy, activist, and educational initiatives.

Social technologies are used to provide a dynamic virtual environment, and often provide
communicative capabilities through:
● posting tools like blogs, forums, and wikis
● email for sharing ideas on a smaller scale
● collaborative areas for interaction
● creating and building digital artefacts or planning projects
● navigation tools for moving through the virtual network landscape profiles to provide a space for
each member to disclose personal information with others.

We in the healthcare profession continue to face the challenge of how best to accept this new
communication and information platforms while trying to protect the patient and the confidentiality of
patient data.

We all know that Social media is a powerful tool that could reach millions in the click of a button. The same
way when used in the right platform it could open a lot of opportunities. But we should always remember
that what we post becomes public and no amount of security settings could guarantee that only those whom
you want to view it would do so.

What is Video Conferencing?

Types:
Point to Point Video Conference
● A point-to-point videoconference was the norm with traditional video conferencing setups (like
closed-circuit TV.
● Point-to-point videoconferencing is still popularly used with common IT teleconferencing tools,
such as Skype. A benefit is that syncing the two signals does not require a bridge or other
sophisticated system. Also, unlike many multi-point systems, there is a better chance of a clearer
signal and less lag time.

Multipoint Video Conference


● In a P2P video conference, there is a simultaneous communication between two different sites. But
here there is communication between more than 2 sites at the same place. Advanced equipment is
necessary for this type of communication to take place.

widelv use varied social media platforms entertainment, learning, and engagement. One of these areas
include sharing health tips, : personal health information. and even promotion of healthcare practice.
However, it appears that technological and social media advancement have outpaced the policies and
practice regulation governing privacy of health information

Web 2.0
● Term used to describe a variety of web sites and applications that allow anyone to create and share
online information or material they have created.
● It allows people to create, share, collaborate & communicate.
● It does not require any web design or publishing skills to participate, making it easy for people to
create and publish or communicate their work to the world.
