1. Write, in 5-10 sentences, a Personal Essay on the Relevance of the Rizal Law in the Education of the
Filipino. 10 PTS.

As time goes by, most of the Filipino especially the younger generation, overlook the heroic deeds of our
national heroes in order to attain the freedom that we have today. Some of the Filipinos including
myself have become fond of the culture of the neighboring countries. And because of that, numerous
Filipino says that, they would rather be born as a citizen of another country but the Philippines. Rizal law
can help us, younger generation, increase our sense of nationalism in this time of an identity crisis that
we’re facing. It would show us the sacrifices made by the people in the past in order to obtain this
freedom that we have today against the oppressor.

2. In at least 10 sentences, Is Rizal really good for the youth? And why is it that some think that there is
harm in learning his life and works especially the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo? 20 pts.

Rizal once dedicated one of his poems to the Filipino youths, not only for the youths of his time or the
generation after them but to all Filipino youths of the past, present, and for future. Rizal wants to
remind the Filipino and its future leaders that they are the future of the Philippines. Youth these days
does not seem to reach the expectation of Rizal. Nonetheless, we cannot deny that the younger
generation of the Filipino are still the future of this country even if they cannot achieve the ideals of
Rizal. In my opinion, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo has a good impact not only in the life of the
people in past, but also to the people in present. I could say that the ones who think that there are harm
in learning in the life of Rizal, and his works especially the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, are the
one who is afraid to his power over something. In Rizal’s novel, the society is urged to open its eyes to
reality and rebel against the Spanish government for its oppression and abuse. It urges the Filipino to
say what they have in mind, to fight for their freedom, and to stand with their right. If Filipinos were to
forget this, I can say that it is only a matter of time before we lose our freedom again against the
oppressor.
