FIRST AID POLICY

AIM:

Organizations covered by the Maharashtra Factories Rules 1963 are required to have first aid
equipment, facilities, and trained personnel in all workplaces. This procedure will provide
information regarding first aid requirements, the process for obtaining first aid, and the
reporting requirements for the first aid.

DESCRIPTION:

This policy is applicable for all the employees of Spectra Specialities, contractors working on
behalf of/for Spectra Specialities and visitors.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Senior Management is responsible for:

 Ensuring the requirements – in accordance with the requirements of Rules 76 as per

Maharashtra Factories Rules 1963 - are established, implemented, monitored and
maintained

 Ensuring resources are provided to furnish and maintain first aid boxes.

 Ensuring the resources of the trained /competent work force for first aid.

Manager- Safety is responsible for:

 Ensuring appropriate first aid treatment is provided, and the necessary incident reports
are completed.

 Participating in investigations and corrective actions, where necessary

 Ensure that the First Aid Responders are competent and able to provide first aid for all
types of Injuries. Also he shall ensure availability of ambulance for transportation to a
medical treatment facility, if required

 Ensuring the contents of first aid box are in line with the regulations and all the
medicines / supplies are upto date.

Ensure for adequate arrangements at hospitals for the injured person

 First Aid Responders are responsible for:

 Ensuring appropriate first aid treatment is provided to the injured person.

 Work with the Manager/Safety executive to arrange for transportation to a
medicaltreatment facility via ambulance (emergency) or taxi (non-
emergency), if required
 Travel with the injured worker to the medical facility.
 Ensuring the First Aid Log is completed

Participation in the Investigations and give his inputs regarding the injury and first aid given.
