INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this memo is to inform you of a new clothing policy in the fitness facility.

The following will describe whom it affects, who is responsible for enforcing the policy, what

the policy is, why it was enacted, and disciplinary procedures for violations of this policy. The

full policy is accessible in the 2020 University Recreation Handbook in the “Staff’ folder of the

CCURec shared Google document.

UNIVERSITY RECREATION CLOTHING POLICY

This policy was developed as a risk management device to protect our equipment and

limit the spread of disease. Anyone who uses our facility is affected by this policy, ie. Students,

faculty, staff, and any other patron of our fitness areas. The responsibility for enforcement of this

policy falls on the Director, Associate Director, and all student staff of University Recreation.

University Recreation’s clothing policy has the following guidelines: Shirts must cover

the full torso of the body, nothing below the shoulder blades can be uncovered, Shorts must

completely cover the buttocks, pants and shorts cannot be made of jean material and must be free

of belts, studs, rivets, and zippers that may damage facility equipment, and rubber-soled closed-

toed shoes must be worn at all times within the fitness areas.

Males will not be allowed to approach females about violations of this policy. Both male

and female staff will be on shift at all times to combat this restriction. In the event of a breach,

violators must be offered a loaner shirt to comply with this policy; if they refuse to wear the
shirt, they must leave the facility. If the violator refuses to comply with our policy and refuses to

leave the facility, public safety will be alerted to remove them.

If the violator must be removed by public safety, the violator will not be allowed access

to any of our facilities until they meet with the University Recreation Director.
