Clothing Policy

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memo is to inform you of a new clothing policy in the fitness facility.
The following will describe whom it affects, who is responsible for enforcing the policy, what
the policy is, why it was enacted, and disciplinary procedures for violations of this policy. The

This policy was developed as a risk management device to protect our equipment and
limit the spread of disease. Anyone who uses our facility is affected by this policy, ie. Students,
faculty, staff, and any other patron of our fitness areas. The responsibility for enforcement of this
policy falls on the Director, Associate Director, and all student staff of University Recreation.
University Recreation’s clothing policy has the following guidelines: Shirts must cover
the full torso of the body, nothing below the shoulder blades can be uncovered, Shorts must
completely cover the buttocks, pants and shorts cannot be made of jean material and must be free
of belts, studs, rivets, and zippers that may damage facility equipment, and rubber-soled closed-
toed shoes must be worn at all times within the fitness areas.
Males will not be allowed to approach females about violations of this policy. Both male
and female staff will be on shift at all times to combat this restriction. In the event of a breach,
violators must be offered a loaner shirt to comply with this policy; if they refuse to wear the
shirt, they must leave the facility. If the violator refuses to comply with our policy and refuses to
