Part 1: Paraphrasing Text

ARTICLE 1

Original passage- “Patterns and rhythms are replete in mathematics, nature, and
design. One such pattern—the golden rectangle—is considered to be one of the most
aesthetically pleasing and calming figures to the eye.” ( para-17)

Paraphrased version: One of the many reasons behind appreciation and embracement of
patterns and rhythmic structures from the architects and designers worldwide is the pleasing
and soothing visual experience provided by them. One example of such visually appealing
patterns that are aesthetic in nature is the golden rectangle (Marquard, 2022).

Original passage- “Each year on Founder’s Day, the McDonald’s corporate office
empties and its senior leaders work at the grills, front counters, fry stations, and drive-
through windows of hundreds of their restaurants around the world—giving them a
chance to see the experience from customers’ and store associates’ vantage points.”
( Para-15).

Paraphrased: A person can dive deep into insightful knowledge just by observing things from
others' points of view. For instance, the managing leaders at McDonald’s corporate office
work in place of frontline workers such as at grills and drive-through outlets on Founder’s
day to get a detailed understanding of hardships faced by them (Marquard, 2022).

ARTICLE 2

Original passage: “Today, there are literally endless platforms, news outlets, and
internet-based sites spewing investment information and advice. It seems anyone can be
a financial journalist. The result is an unprecedented level of confusion.” ( Para-3).

Paraphrased: The wide scale availability of the internet has led to the emergence of plenty of
social platforms and numerous websites that claim themselves as financial advisors and
journals. It has resulted in an environment full of misinformation (Giustra, F 2022).

Original passage: “The financial media landscape has changed dramatically over the
last two decades, and the 24-hour news cycle has become a beast that needs continuous
feeding. It’s also fiercely competitive, and every outlet must find ways to attract an
audience.” ( Para-6).

Paraphrased: There has been a drastic rise in the number of media outlets related to financial
matters in the past 20 years and has resulted in immense competition to run breaking
financial news around the day (Giustra, F 2022).
ARTICLE 3

Original passage: “Neoliberalism is a broad term used to describe a ruthless variant of

economic thinking that weakens a country’s immune system, making its population
vulnerable to poverty and other social malaise. Margaret Thatcher’s U.K. (1979–90) is
widely known as patient zero.” (Para-1).

Paraphrased: Margaret Thatcher’s U.K was the first in the world to coin and spread the term
‘Neoliberalism’. It points to those steps and measures by policy makers of a nation that leads
to deterioration of the economy of a nation. Which ultimately leads communities towards
poverty (Tranjan, 2021).

Original passage: “The horrendous state of long-term care homes shocked the country,
triggering additional funding and the criticism of profit-making in a vital social service.
Low-wage workers were praised as essential workers and received temporary raises.”
(Para-10).

Paraphrase: The period of Covid-19 was an eye-opener for the entire world and their
sophisticated health care systems. Many countries fell short of health care facilities and
therefore, a chain of donations and funding’s initiated across the world and even low wage
workers contributed well to it (Tranjan, 2021).
