Sketch of the Guestroom
Target Audience: Business Executive

 The proposed guest room is for business executives

and business travelers and their guests must be
designed with an environmental sustainability focus.
 Sometimes business travelers do visit
 Lighting should be well-lit; natural light is preferred,
while the room should be comfortable and functional.
 A relaxed and calm environment is essential to help
reduce stress levels, while a quiet setting helps
promote concentration.
Why we Choose This Floor Plan

• The hotel room we chose for our business executive was

designed with environmental sustainability in mind.
• The floor plan is well-suited for a small space because it has
limited closet and storage space, but the layout maximizes
efficiency by maximizing the windows and natural light.
• We opted for LED lighting to save energy and reduce our
carbon footprint.
• And finally, we selected fabrics with low environmental
impact to keep our hotel room as green as possible.
What type of room is this?

 Queen's room is a guest room designed especially

for business executives.
 It features an elegant and sophisticated design
with rich colors and comfortable furnishings. The
room is bright and airy, with a contemporary
accent on natural light.
 The environmental sustainability of this room was
considered during its design process.
What you would do differently to convert this
room into an accessible room for the disabled
 Many materials used in construction, such as carpeting and
paint, are incompatible with specific dietary restrictions or
mobility issues.
 By using eco-friendly materials and making other design
modifications, hotels can reduce the environmental impact of
accommodating disabled guests while still providing a high
level of comfort.
What you would do differently to convert this
room into an accessible room for the disabled
• For hotels with disabled guests in mind, several things can be
done to make the room more accessible.
• General design modifications such as widening doorways and
moving furniture away from walls can make a big difference.
Lighting should also be considered; low-level lighting fixtures
and switches can cause glare and discomfort for those with
visual impairments.
• In addition, environmental sustainability should be a top priority
for any hotel looking to accommodate disabled guests.
Explain your thinking behind the layout and
the explain the details of the floor plan.
• When designing a hotel guest room for business
executives, it is essential to consider their specific
needs and preferences. Some key factors to consider
include the following:

Designing the guest room with sufficient Lighting to
allow for practical work.Ensuring the room is
environmentally sustainable, using low or zero-
energy technologies when possible

To accommodate the business executive's busy
lifestyle, the room's layout should be simple and
efficient. The bed should be placed centrally in the
room so they can quickly get up and move around if
Why are colours important?
 Colors play an essential role in every person's life. For example, we associate
different colors with different emotions. For example, blue is associated with the
emotion of sadness, and green is associated with the emotion of happiness.

 Similarly, different colors are used to represent different things in a room. For
example, red is used to represent energy, and yellow is used to represent the
warmth.

When designing a guest room for a business executive, it is essential to consider
their color preferences and what colors best represent them and their work. It is
also essential to consider their environmental sustainability when choosing
colors for the room.
Colour Scheme of the room

 The color scheme employed in a hotel room is one of the essential

features. This will assist in establishing the tone for the area and offer a
general sense of cleanliness and comfort. There are numerous ways to
establish a well-executed color scheme, but one of the most common is
to utilize warm colors on the walls and cold colors on the furnishings.

 One of the initial considerations you must make is your guest's

personality. If they're outgoing and like to feel comfortable in bright
colors, use those as your primary colors. However, if your guest is more
reserved or prefers to stay in darker tones, then consider using
complementary colors instead.
Yellow colour ?

 There are many reasons why hotels might choose to use a bright and eye-
catching color like yellow in their guest rooms.

 One of the most obvious reasons is that it's obvious. Yellow is the color
that stands out the most, which can be helpful for guests if they're looking
for a room or for someone they want to speak with.

 Another reason is that yellow can invigorate a space. Because it's such a
cheerful color, it can help make a room feel more lively and inviting.
Additionally, by using yellow in different parts of the room, guests can
create an overall feeling of warmth and comfort.
Choice of lighting

• When choosing the proper Lighting for your hotel guest room, you'll want to consider a
few factors. First, the focal point of the room – typically the bed or desk – should be well-
lit.
• Secondly, ambient light makes the entire room feel comfortable and inviting. And finally,
be sure to take into account environmental sustainability when selecting your lighting
options.
• Several types of Lighting can suit your needs: direct light, indirect light, and light
fixtures. Direct light comes from a single source, such as a lamp or spotlight, and can be
harsh on the eyes.
• Indirect light comes from multiple sources and is more forgiving on the eyes (ledvance,
2019).
The Importance of Lighting and Ambiance in Hotel Rooms for Business guest

Guest rooms in a hotel are often designed with the needs of business guests
in mind. Lighting and atmosphere can play an essential role in making
guests feel comfortable and productive. Here are some guidelines for
creating an optimal guest room environment:
• Make sure the Lighting is bright but not glaring or uncomfortable.
• Limit fluorescent light bulbs to areas where they are needed, such as the
desk area.
• Utilize natural light as much as possible, and try to add additional light
through window coverings or lamps.
• Keep the temperature comfortable without being too warm or too cold.
• Enable guests to plug in electronics if necessary, but ensure no cords are
blocking the view of windows or other areas of the room (ledvance,
2019).
THE EFFECTS OF LIGHTING DESIGN IN THE
HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY FOR Business guest
Choose the right light fixtures: There are various light fixtures available on the market, so it's
essential to choose ones that will blend well with the style of the room. For example, consider
using chandeliers or arch lamps if the room is formal. If the room is more casual, choose floor
lamps or task lighting.

Follow the guidelines for environmental sustainability: When choosing furniture and
accessories, make sure they're sustainable and energy-efficient. For example, try to find
furniture made from natural materials like wood or bamboo. And be sure to use LED lights
instead of traditional bulbs whenever possible - they're much more energy-efficient
(furnitureforhotel, 2020).

Keep the space clean and organized :A messy guestroom can ruin your reputation as a
professional host person! Keep everything tidy - including the surfaces on which furnishings are
placed - so that guests feel comfortable exploring the room without feeling cluttered or stressed
out (cvent, 2021).
Choice of Furniture
When choosing furniture for your hotel guest room, there are a few things to
consider.

First, the purpose of the room should be considered. A guest room for an
executive may require a different type of furniture than one for a tourist.

Second, the design of the hotel should be considered. Contemporary furniture

might be appropriate if the hotel is modern and sleek. If the hotel is older and
more traditional, more classic pieces might be better suited.

Third, they should take the environmental sustainability of the furniture into
account. Some furniture made with recycled or environmentally friendly
materials can be a good choice (furnitureforhotel, 2020).
Business guest : Bedroom Furniture

Business guest bedroom furniture should be designed to suit the

individual needs of the business executive staying in their room. This
includes bed type and size, dresser, closet, and other accessories.
Lighting should match the room's décor, and environmental
sustainability should be considered when selecting furniture and
accessories. Some tips for designing a business guest bedroom:

1. Choose a comfortable bed type and size.

2. Choose versatile furnishings that can be moved around if needed.
3. Consider features like storage or Lighting that the business executive
can control.
4. Consider environmental sustainability when selecting furniture and
accessories (Furnishing Co., Ltd, 2020).
5 Furniturae Must-Haves for a Guest Room

home:

1. A comfortable bed – After a long day of work business executives deserve

to relax in bed after a long day. A good bed can help them achieve this goal
quickly and easily. Look for beds that come with adjustable mattresses, so
you can ensure each guest gets the perfect level of comfort.

2. A comfortable chair — Sitting in a nice chair after a long workday is

another technique to unwind swiftly. Choose chairs with lumbar support,
armrests, and headrests to ensure every visitor feels like their comforts are
taken care of (Furnishing Co., Ltd, 2020).

3. Enough storage space – Business executives often need plenty of storage
space to store their laptops and other essential belongings while on vacation
or to work in their hotel rooms. Look for furniture with many compartments
and shelves to keep everything organized and tidy.

4. Accent pieces – No matter what color your walls are, a few colorful pieces
of furniture can help to add a pop of brightness to your room. Choose
pillows, draperies, and other decor options that will brighten up your space
and make it look more inviting.

5. A comfortable ottoman – A comfortable ottoman can be a great addition to

any guest room. In addition to being a comfortable place to sit, it can also
store extra clothing or bags. (Furnishing Co., Ltd, 2020).
Advantages of Custom Hotel Furniture
in Luxury Hospitality Guest Room
• Custom hotel furniture in luxury hospitality guest rooms offers several advantages over the standard pieces
in hotels.
• Not only are they more comfortable and stylish, but custom furniture also promotes environmental
sustainability. Hotel furniture is typically made from inexpensive materials that can be disposed of after
use.
• Still, custom furniture is often made from sustainable materials like wood or bamboo that can be reused or
recycled.
• Additionally, custom furniture typically has a longer lifespan than standard hotel furniture, which will
require less maintenance over time (Furnishing Co., Ltd, 2020).
Business guest Hotel room Designs

 Guest rooms for business executives and their guests must be

comfortable and stylish. This can be a challenge when space is
limited, but with some creative design ideas, a hotel room can be
transformed into a splendid getaway for those in the know.

Lighting is critical in any guest room, and special attention should
be paid to making sure that the Lighting is flattering for all body
types. Comfort should also be a top priority, so ensure to include
comfortable beds, pillows, and warm blankets if necessary. (cvent,
2020)
Hotel Industry Design Trends

Many hotels now offer guests an environmental sustainability rating that helps them make
informed choices when choosing a hotel. Here are some of the most famous hotel design
trends:

1. Green Lighting: A big trend in hotel lighting is going green. This means using LED or
other forms of energy-efficient light bulbs. Some hotels even go so far as to install solar
panels on their roofs to generate renewable energy for their lights and ventilation systems.

2. Sleek Designs: Another trend in hotel design is to go sleek and modern. This can be seen in
designs that use glass walls, ceilings, and features like rain gardens or water recycling
systems. It's also common for hotels to use natural materials like bamboo and recycled paper
products in their furnishings and decorations. (cvent, 2020)
Hotel Industry Design Trends

3. New Materials: Hotel designers are also experimenting with new materials, such as
bamboo flooring, wool rugs, cotton sheets, and coir mats. These materials offer several
benefits, including being warm and soft to the touch, eco-friendly (since they are made from
natural materials), and stylish (many people find them attractive).

4. Art Deco Influences: One of the most famous hotel design trends right now is Art Deco
influences. This style dates back to the 1930s and 1940s when architects designed
streamlined buildings. (cvent, 2020)
Guest Bedroom Ideas to Make Your
Visitors Feel Right at Home
• Guest bedroom ideas for business executives can make them feel right at home.
• When staying at a hotel, guests are typically given a standard room with an attached
bathroom. However, if you're a business executive in town, consider reserving a guest
bedroom instead. A guest bedroom can provide a luxurious setting for rest after a long
day of meetings or travel. Meanwhile, modern lighting and environmental sustainability
features can make your stay more comfortable and sustainable.(Butler, 2022)
Environmental Analysis

• The number of company executives traveling for work has increased recently. As a
result, hotels have taken notice and begun to design rooms specifically for these
guests. More often than not, these rooms are designed to emphasize environmental
sustainability.
 One way that hotels can promote environmental sustainability is by designing guest
rooms with better Lighting. Business executives spend much of their time in darkness,
so having good light fixtures can make a big difference. Additionally, selecting
environmentally friendly light bulbs can help reduce energy consumption and
emissions (cvent, 2020).
A sustainable approach to guest room
products
• Guest rooms are often places where guests can relax, escape the everyday world, and
recharge. However, many guests also use guest rooms for business purposes- whether
working on a laptop or meeting with clients. Because of this, it's essential to consider
both the design of the room and its environmental sustainability when creating a guest
room.

One way to achieve environmental sustainability in a guest room is to choose
environmentally friendly materials. For example, using natural fabrics such as wool or
cotton can help protect the environment by reducing waste and the amount of energy
needed to produce fabrics. Additionally, selecting energy-efficient light fixtures can
positively impact the environment. For instance, using incandescent light bulbs instead of
fluorescent or LED bulbs can reduce your carbon footprint (Butler, 2022).
Environmental sustainability and its role in
interior design
• Today's guest room is designed to accommodate business executives who need a
comfortable and efficient place to stay while traveling for work. The room features stylish
furniture, thoughtfully chosen Lighting, and an environmentally friendly design. All these
elements work together to create an interior environment that is both comfortable and
conducive to productivity
• To achieve this goal, the designers considered several factors: the size of the room, layout
preferences, and the type of work being done. The space is designed to be flexible so that it
can be tailored to fit the needs of any guest. This includes everything from a single office
chair to multiple desks lined up straight (Butler, 2022).
