BRITISH A008 @@ COUNCIL ole Enabling University Peace Education Project CALL FOR APPLICATIONS REASERACH TRAINING FOR RESERACHERS Enabling University Peace Education (EUPE)project aims to support @ generation of young university graduates, particularly women, to participate more effectively in peacebuilding by enabling universities in Ethiopia to provide contextual and relevant peace education for their students and strengthen the peace research activities of the universities in collaboration with local, regional, and international partners. This project is cofounded by European Union and British Council and operates in Ethiopia and Sudan Context-driven research on locally identified peacebuilding imperatives in Ethiopia improves the relevance and quality of university peace education courses/modules, strengthens universities’ responsiveness to inform and influence policy, and contributes knowledge to local external stakeholders involved in peace and conflict work. This result area aims to strengthen the peace research ecosystem and peace research output in participating universities that is required to support and sustain high quality and relevant peace education In this regard, we are organizing a three-day, intensive research capacity building training in ‘Addis Ababa for researchers in the peace education during 5-7 December 2022. The research training will bring about 60 researcher form different fields of studies, Over the course of three days, participant will have opportunities to refine and rework draft research proposal towards publishable standards through taking advantage of lectures, group work as well as one-to-one sessions with a mentor. The training will be followed by a networking event including a reception with the wider regional implementing universities and peace stakeholders. The training will be conducted by our UK partner university, Coventry University, The British Council beside training researchers from our partner local universities is also offering opportunities for researchers from other institutions (15 slots), herby we are opening this call for applications. Interested applicant working in the peace studies or a related discipline (political science, strategic and security studies, sociology, development studies and natural resources, law and governance, education, etc) and registered in an Ethiopian public institution and early career postdoctoral researchers working at Ethiopian universities are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this opportunity, To be eligible, applicant must send the following documents by 28 November 2022 to dawit.solomon@britishcouncil.org and hasset.teame@brilishcouncil.org: 1. The applicant must be affiliated to a public university/Ministry of Education Specialist in peace studies or a related discipline (political science, strategic and security studies, development studies, law and governance, etc) Interested researchers will submit motivation letter not more than 500 words, their CVs and a letter from their universities supporting their participation in the training. Preferably from a conflict zone. Priority will be given to young researchers under the age of 40 BRITISH COUNCIL errs So Expenses including economy-class return airticket from airport within Ethiopia (for the regional participants), accommodation (4 nights), and meals, will be covered for all participants. We particularly encourage applications from female scholars.
