MODELING & ROLE MODELING

 Modeling and Role-Modeling is based on the philosophy that all humans have
the desire to live healthy, to find meaning and purpose in their lives, and to
become the most that they can be.
 We nurses can truly helping them grow, heal, and transcend (GO BEYOND
LIMIT).
 The Theory of Modeling and Role-Modeling enables nurses to care for and
nurture each client with an awareness and respect for the individual’s uniqueness
which exemplifies theory-based clinical practice that focuses on the client’s
needs.

FIVE AIMS OF INTERVENTIONS

*DANI AFTER*

 Promoting Strengths
 We nurses should connect with our patients, in terms of assisting towards their
well-being and boosting their spirit in aiming the best version of themselves.
 We can help them see their value on themselves even though it may seem
difficult but like on what the famous motto “If there’s a will, there’s a way”.

 Health Directed Goals

 We humans have different decisions and perspective about our health, that is
why humans have different approach how to cope up with it.
 Our responsibility is to teach them what are the pros and cons on what decision
they will make so that they can have wiser choices.

COMMONALITIES IN HUMANS

HOLISM
 Holism is an approach to understanding the human mind and behavior that
focuses on looking at things as a whole.
 It can help in utilizing big picture approach and assess multiple factors of a
problem.
 Rather than focus on just one aspect of the problem, it is necessary to recognize
that various factors interact and influence each other.
 Like the human body, we are composed of different parts or systems with
different functions that make us a whole.
BASIC NEEDS
 Maslow's Hierarcy of Needs
 It drives a person's behavior
 This hierarchy suggests that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs before
moving on to other, more advanced needs.
 Physiological need is the most important since it is vital for survival.
 This can help explain why we might feel "stuck" or unmotivated if not met.

LIFETIME DEVELOPMENT
 Eric Erickson’s Psychosocial
 Saying that task resolution depends on the degree of need and satisfaction
 it is also studied how humans learn, mature, and adapt from infancy to adulthood
to the elderly phases of life.
 Can be beneficial in a way we can have a better understanding of others, the
possibility for an improved quality of life, and also our self-discovery

AFFILIATED INDIVIDUALIZATION
 Is a concept unique to the modeling and role modeling theory based on the belief
that all people have an instinctual drive to be accepted and dependent on the
support systems throughout life while also maintaining a sense of independence
and freedom.

ROLE-MODELING

Role modeling occurs when the nurse plans and implements interventions that are
unique for the client.

After the client’s world has been modeled, the nurse facilitates and nurtures the
individual “in attaining, maintaining, or promoting health through purposeful
interventions”

1. The nurse plans and implements interventions specific to the patient’s individual need
2. Nurturing

3. Requires acceptance by the nurse of the patient as they are.

4. Build trust

-We can take care of our patients holistically if apply this theory

REAL-WORLD APPLICATION

1. CHILDREN

 For example a child was going into the clinic, and we know, they have a different
understanding than an adult.
 We nurses and a provider, should know where the child is coming from, like if
they are frustrated, happy ,or even scared.
 If we know what they are feeling we can better execute our interventions for us
provide to them in meeting their needs.

2. CULTURAL DIFFERENCES

-People coming into the hospital are different, they have different perspective and
knowledge on such things like they don't know or understand that bacteria or viruses
can harm or causes diseases, but as nurses, we can simply understand and respect
their perspective or can humbly educate them and now you can tell them "hey, it is not
complicated to fix, let's wash your hands"
