PROPOSED SCHOOL-BASED INTERVENTION PROGRAM


PLEA- Preparing Learners in English Advancement

TARGET CLIENTELES:

Forty three (43) nonreaders and two hundred five (205) pupils who are under
frustration level, in reference to the administration of the Philippine Informal Reading
Inventory.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

- extend the pupils abilities to read effectively in a variety of situation for a variety of purposes
- create awareness on reading preferences and needs
- assess strengths in listening and set goals for future growth
- practice the behaviors of effective, active reading
- students understand that reading is an important tool they will use throughout their lives
- to increase the student literacy rate in our building
- to accommodate alternative learning and teaching styles
- to facilitate assessing information and showing evidence of learning.

The goal of this program is to instill a life-long second language reading habit of the students

INTRODUCTION / RATIONALE:
The PLEA- Preparing Learners in English Advancement provides reading teachers and coaches
guidance in developing, implementing, sustaining and refining a comprehensive and effective reading
program. It may also serve as a self-assessment tool to help school staff discover strengths and
weaknesses in the overall reading program. This
can be used to establish priorities to meet the goal of providing reading instruction that produces superior
reading achievement for all students.

PROJECT DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROGRAM


The program shall follow the hereunder process:
* Administration of Phil IRI Oral Reading Test
* Identification of the problem to be addressed
* Identification of the clienteles
* Planning of the solutions in terms of activities and schedules
* Meeting with the clienteles and parents
a. Administration of Phil IRI was simultaneously done on the 3rd week of July.
b. Identification of the problem to be addressed. This has been done after administration of the Phil IRI
Oral reading Test. The advisers collated the number of learners under the Frustration level.
c. Identification of the clienteles. The names of these learners will be listed down for documentation.
d. Planning of the solutions in terms of activities and schedules with the other teachers concerned. They
will meet up and discuss about possible remedy to address the difficulty of the learners.
e. Meeting with the clienteles and parents. The learners and their parents will be called to explain to them
the routine of the program and to encourage the parents to support their children.
f. Management of the program will start right after the schedule and the meeting with the parents and
clienteles is done
g. Administration of an Assessment Tool. Mid and final assessment tests will be administered to diagnose
the comprehension level of the clienteles after half of the scheduled activities were done and during the
last day of the scheduled activities.
