Introduction

The convenience of purchasing goods and services without time and

geographical constraints have led to the rapid uptake of e-commerce. One of the sectors
at the forefront of the e-commerce revolution is the air-travel industry. Surveys show
that these are among the most popular of all transactions conducted online, and over
the following few pages, we shall examine why this is the case and take an in-depth look
at the impact of e-commerce in the sector (Bryce, 2019).

Online airline ticket booking system is one of the essential applications of

E-commerce. With the development of the Internet and security technology, more and
more people have begun to consume online, which is more convenient and personal
than the traditional way. The goal of this system is to make people purchase airline
tickets easily (Yu, 2004).

We now live in a world where almost everything is inseparable from the Internet,
with businesses topping the list. It is now crucial that every business has a recognizable
online presence, no matter what its sector. Not only does modern technology help
businesses get found online, but it also helps them easily convert visits into revenue
through an online reservation system (Gungon, 2020).

Though booking and reservation may seem like two different words or terms to
learn based on their occasional use in differently structured sentences, confirming or
paying for a service in advance can almost always be used synonymously.
(Learngrammar.net, 2022).

Moreover, the team will develop the G2GPh (Good To Go Philippine) Airline
Online Booking System.

Description

Once the user logs into the software, it will show all available information about
its flights, its available seats, promos, and as well as the time of flights. The current
system also allows the user to book a flight as well as the seat available, and the admin
will review the said request according to the information provided and give feedback. If

2
the flight is confirmed, this feedback will be saved in the database and posted publicly
in the application viewing system.

Through this application, the customers can see the available flight on the
specific dates they have chosen and the available seats for the said flight. The system
will also grant an advantage to the administrator, who will monitor the flights and
change the availability of the information if there are some flight changes.

G2GPh Airline Online Booking System will be built with Java and SQL
Database, two of the most prominent programming languages. For the client and
administrator sides, the system will use an enhanced version of java.awt.Frame that
includes support for the JFC/Swing component architecture. Customers can use the
system to book airline tickets without needing to be trained to use the Internet or web
browsers because they are extensively used worldwide (Yu, 2004).

Additionally, based on the requirements of a system, varying users may have

different CRUD cycles. A customer may use CRUD to create an account and access that
account when returning to a particular site. The user may then update personal data or
change billing information. On the other hand, an operations manager might create
product records and then call them when needed or modify line items. Besides, this can
be done quickly and conveniently when administrators want to create, read, update or
delete specific data from the transactions. Using CRUD operations helps to prevent
SQL injection attacks. Utilizing stored procedures instead of string concatenation to
build dynamic queries from user input data for all SQL Statements means that
everything placed into a parameter gets quoted (Altvater, 2017).

Scope and Limitations of the program (What your program can/cannot do)

This G2GPh Airline Online Booking System is more of a booking application

that clients and administration can access. The system will have a database server that
will continuously support the number of flights, reservations, and flight info of the
G2GPh Airline. It will also accommodate the customers and staff for as long as they are
all in the system (or they have admin permission or a user account to access the system).
The system admin provides these people with user accounts, and access is restricted and
limited only to those already added to the system.
The customers are only limited to a “view-only” feature of the system’s content
and can search for the flights of their destinations and book the chosen seat. However,
once the seat is booked, it will not be available to search. Clients can also pay for a
booked ticket through online transactions, and providing or creating content is limited
only to system administrators.
The primary goal is to make things easier and user-friendly for people expected
to indulge themselves in using this system. The system is built on a relational database
about the reservation services feature. Above all, we hope to provide a pleasant user
experience in addition to flight information.

Objectives

1. What are the general objectives/goals of the program?

This application aims to provide an overview of a software solution that will

manage the booking and reservations of flights and its management for G2GPh Airline
customers and to develop an software application which will serve as a medium for
people to book a ticket to travel through our airline that are saved in an online database.
Customers can access information about their flights and tickets on this application
while the admin will also be able to access and manage system data of the said software
application.

2. What are the specific goals to achieve the general objectives/goals of the program?

Here are the primary goals to achieve the said objectives:

● By utilizing CRUD operations in our databases, the admin support is able to

properly track, manage, and respond to incoming client requests by utilizing the
most recent features of the app.
● This app can automatically distribute and assign requests and store the data to
the right database and storage.
● It can also automatically carry out ticketing systems to save time and resources
through easy-to-use features and convenient features.
