I will be uploading my short horror film onto YouTube because it is a
mainstream site that is used by 2.1 Billion people world-wide, this means my production will be accessible to anyone with access to internet. I will cator my production to the target audience of 18+. Although this site has many benefits it also comes with a lot of competition. Anyone is able to create a YouTube channel and post content. My short film will be a horror and YouTube has many horror short films that are available to viewers. I will use this to my advantage by looking at the statistics of what my target audience of 18+ enjoy in those horror films and what attracts them.
My production idea is a non-fiction horror
based on a young girl who gets trapped in the woods while taking her neighbour’s dog in the woods. In the production I will foreshadow what is to come by having dark figures following the young girl from the first scene, by hinting that the girl is targeted from the start will build tension and grasp the viewers’ attention straight away.
My target audience is 18+, the reasoning behind chosing this
age range as my target audience is because this is the audience horror films traditionally attract and are suitable to because of the content that are usually included in the films. Legal issues that are tied to horror films is that is someone underage watches the movie and is deeply affected by it the producer may face some consequences for allowing it to be accessible for the underage person to watch. Another legal issue that could be involved in horror movies is that it is possible a narrative could be similar to a horror film that has already been created and this means the creator may be copyrighted. Some ethical issues that are involved with the production of horror films is that there might be a topic that is controversial in the narrative. Making horror movies that are very close to reality can become an ethical issue because it can lead to the audience having unwanted thoughts and increase levels of anxiety or panic.
