TECHNICAL WRITING VS.

CREATIVE WRITING
Technical writing and Creative writing are two very distinct forms of writing.
However, they can share some similarities such as conveying information and
transporting messages. In addition, they align their writing styles depending on their
purpose and target audience so it requires writing techniques and critical thinking.
Technical writing is writing about specialized or technical subjects that is factual
and straight forward. It uses formal elements because it is the kind of communication
that is often used in various professional fields, medicine, business, and academe
setting while creative writing is writing that expresses your ideas and thoughts creatively
in fiction-poetry, short stories, plays, and novels that is imaginative and metaphoric. It
uses artistic style to create strong impression and emotional impact to its readers.
Technical writing will challenge us to make a masterpiece as we follow sets of principles
and properties making its organization systematic. As per creative writing, it will
challenge our creativity as how we will express ourselves in the form of art making its
organization artistic.
The purpose of technical writing is to inform, instruct, or persuade so its audience
is very specific because the written document is for someone who is in their field of
expertise while creative writing has general audience because their purpose is to
entertain, provoke, or captivate feelings, so all are capable of accessing the written
document in creative writing. The tone of technical writing is objective as it is not
influence by feelings and it is based on facts, thus, using specialized vocabulary while
creative writing is subjective as it is a self-expression, therefore, using general and
evocative words.
These two types of writing are fun and enjoyable, both serving very different
purposes as well as in any other forms of writing. All types of writing also have
differences in content, audience, purpose, style, tone, vocabulary, and organization.
