SUMMARY Additional Comments next page 

Areas for further growth:
Deshann should continue to work on questioning, so that she is promoting higher level thinking, while still
ensuring that students at a lower level are able to participate. Deshann should also continue to find and test out
different strategies for classroom management so that she can remain in control of any class that she teaches.
Every group of students is very different so having a variety of strategies is essential. Deshann should also
continue to focus on clearly explaining her expectations of student learning each lesson, her expectations of
student behaviour, and how students will be assessed. All of these areas for growth are skills that I am confident
she will build and master as she gains experience.

Overall comments (Strongest aspects of student’s performance):

Deshann demonstrates an excellent ability to lesson plan, with a clear introduction, lesson, and closure, and she
incorporates a variety of strategies to engage and motivate students. She has creative ideas and carefully thinks
through how she will carry them out ahead of time so that she is fully prepared during the lesson. She responds
very well to feedback and implements suggestions immediately. She learns quickly and can think on her feet to
adapt to any situation. She has earned the respect of the students and has clearly established her role as the
teacher while still connecting to the students and building positive relationships with each of them. She has also
developed professional relationships with other staff members and made the effort to get to know them and to
engage in conversations and become a part of the staff. One of the most important aspects of successful teaching
is the ability to effectively collaborate with others, and she has the maturity, social skills, and attitude to be able to
do this very well.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Halfway through this practicum, we had to switch to a combination of in-class teaching and online teaching, and
Deshann showed excellent flexibility, adaptability, and confidence as she took on this challenge with no
hesitation. She has a lot of knowledge around technology and was able to teach me a few of the technological
skills that I still needed to learn. I relied on Deshann as a co-teacher during this combination teaching and she
proved to be incredibly reliable and capable. I have no doubt that Deshann will be a successful teacher.
