Title: Down to earth: How astrophotos are made

Stem cafe summary notes :

From watching this video I learned a lot of things about how the

SPARQ center takes pictures of the atmosphere and about how they

are similar to Hubble about taking pictures. The SPARQ center takes

photos almost exactly like nasa does and the only difference is that

nasa's camera is bigger and doesn't need editing because their

camera is already advanced in color. A camera needs one thing

and that is the equation to light because without light the

picture would be black and white. The black and white in a

picture is called monochrome and the black and white photos will

give you a graph of pixels called luminosity. To get color on a photo

that you take of space you have to have astrophotography filters,

these filters only allows a specific color of light into the camera.

When Hubble takes pictures of the atmosphere they have the option

to choose from 50 to 60 filters so if they really wanted to make a

picture specific they can. Our atmosphere protects us from gamma

rays and x-rays and you can put 3,000 solar systems in 1 light year.

Reflection on summary :
Honestly this information does not relate to me in any way but it is

good to know about and it was a very interesting video to watch

and the photos were very cool. Although I'm not really into space

or math all that much it was really cool to see the equation of light

and i didnt even know that was a thing. I also found that a

nanometer is 1,000,000 of lmm.

Current Article: Telescope captures most detailed pictures yet of the sun

Author: By Hannah Devlin

Article summary:

As I was reading this article I learned how they observe the sun with a

telescope and what they can find out with the photos they take. The

scientist thought that the sun was a bright ball or as they say a point and

one structure but they found out that the sun is breaking down into many

smaller structures. The photos revealed the small structures and

supposedly they look like nuggets of gold but each shape is about the size

of france. The gas of the sun is superheated to almost 10,800 degrees

fahrenheit. The way they take pictures is when the incoming light from the

sun is hitting the primary mirror the light bounces off into a chamber of

mirrors that sit below the observatory dome. The pictures they take can

discover the corona, the sun's atmosphere and how the sun is heated to

millions of degrees when its surface is only about 10,800 degrees

fahrenheit.
