MY ANSWERS

3RD QUARTER WEEK 1

Learning Task 1. Quiz

1. Raf rides a boat for a fishing trip at 6 kilometer south. After half hour of waiting, no fishes were
caught, so he goes 2kilometer west. Then he follows a school of fish 1 kilometer north.

A. How long did he travel? (6 + 2 + 1) km = 9 kilometers

B. Is the boat's displacement equal to zero? No

2. The ball rolls from point A (left) to point B (right) at 1.5 meters, as it reached point B, it rolls back to
the starting position.

A. How far did the ball roll? 1.5 meters because it is asking for the distance between point A and point
B

B. What is the displacement? Displacement is zero

Describe the motion of an object in terms of speed velocity, and acceleration (S7FE - Illa - 1)
►Answer the following question

1. What is the fastest animal in land? The Cheetah is Fastest animal in land.
2. How far does it cover for 3 seconds? The Cheetah can cover a distance of 460 meters or
1500 feet in 3 seconds.
3. What is the advantage of cheetah as predator? The Cheetah's speed is an advantage as
predator.

----------------------------
SPEED VELOCITY
A. Jacob ran 10 meters in 10 seconds. A. Tropical storm travelling 88 kph,
eastward.
B. ship cruising 34 miles per hour B. Jean moved the plate 50 centimeters to
the right in 3 seconds.
C. Rafael swims 120 meters towards the
shore in 60 seconds

►Guide Questions:

► 1. From the speed you have calculated above, tell position corresponds to the situation
below:
► Stationary: Not moving constant
► Constant speed: Object in motion
► Speeding Up: Same direction
►Slowing down: Opposite direction
▶2. When is the object at rest? Its speed is equal to zero
► In constant speed? If the object is moving at equal distance at equal interval of time, the
motion said to be constant.
►Accelerating? If the object covers varying distances at equal interval of time, the object is
changing speed and is therefore accelerating.

----------------------------
Learning Task. The cat runs toward the mouse for food at different speed. Given the data
below, calculate the speed of the cat.

POSITION TIME (5) DISTANCE (M) SPEED (M/S)

A 0 0 (1) 0M/S
B 1 1 (2) 1M/S
C 2 1 (3) 0.5M/S
D 3 1.5 (4) 0.5M/S
E 4 4 (5) 1M/S

▶Guide Questions:

► 1. From the speed you have calculated above, position corresponds to the situation below:
▶Stationary: (A) 0M/S
► Constant speed: (B AND C) 1M/S AND 0.5M/S
▶ Speeding Up: (E) 1M/S
▶ Slowing down: (D) 0.5M/S
▶2. When is the object at rest? Its speed is equal to zero
►In constant speed? If the object is moving at equal distance at equal interval of time, the
motion said to be constant.
►Accelerating? If the object covers varying distances at equal interval of time, the object is
changing speed and is therefore accelerating.

Written Test Q3 week4
Read the questions carefully and write your answer in a separate sheet of paper.

1. Differentiate pitch, intensity and loudness. The pitch of a sound is our ear's response to the
frequency of sound. Whereas loudness depends on the energy of the wave. In general, the
pitch is the reason behind the difference in voice quality of different individuals. The pitch of
a sound depends on the frequency while loudness of a sound depends on the amplitude of
sound waves.

2. How is pitch and wavelength of soundwave related to each other? The shorter the
wavelength, the higher the frequency, and the higher the pitch, of the sound. In other words,
short waves sound high; long waves sound low. Instead of measuring frequencies, musicians
name the pitches that they use most often.

3. How loudness differs with the person? The loudness of sound as perceived by human ears is
roughly proportional to the logarithm of sound intensity: when the intensity is very small, the
sound is not audible; when it is too great, it becomes painful and dangerous to the ear.

4. As an ambulance approaches and passes you, how can you explain the sound it produced?
When an ambulance passes with its siren blaring, you hear the pitch of the siren change: as it
approaches, the siren's pitch sounds higher than when it is moving away from you. This
change is a common physical demonstration of the Doppler effect.

5. Suggest ways on how to protect human ear from noise pollution. Use earplugs around loud
noises, Turn the volume down, Give your ears time to recover, Stop using cotton swabs in
your ears, Take medications only as directed, Keep your ears dry, Get up and move, Manage
stress levels.

INDEPENDENT ACTIVITY 3
Procedure: Walk under the sun for 3 minutes.
Guide Questions. 1. Why do you feel warm when you walk under the sun? because the sand is directly
exposed to the sun for a long time

2. Record your observations. I found that the sand is warmer than the cement when it is in the sun for
a long time but it also cools down quickly

Note: It is not advisable to stay under the sun for too long!
