Vikas Yojana is to provide education, 123

EDUCATION

Ever since its founding, VKV has been educating young

girls. Lessons taught in schools are revised on the same day
in each centre and homework is done under the guidance
of the Nirvahikulu for around 2.5 hours. Students who have
doubts about any concept approach them and have them
cleared. This system has been a great success, even leading
to students who previously weren't performing well
securing the first rank in their school in the tenth-grade
boards. Parents and students alike are pleased with these
classes
HEALTH
Vaidhehi Kishori Vikas Yojana conducted free yoga classes in
each of the centres. Basic treatments and home remedies to
treat common illnesses like fever, cough, vomiting and
headache have been taught to young girls. This makes them
self-sufficient and also lets them help their friends and family.
VKV set up camps and brought doctors to conduct tests and
prescribe treatments. A health camp was held at Eliminedu
where the Kishoris and their parents could get free check-ups
and medicine if found to be necessary

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

VKV recognizes the importance of recreational

activities in a kid's life. The project provides
vocational training to girls from slums and low-
income areas. They are taught the process of
making various different things like gomaya
products, paper crafts, natural Holi colours,
candles, shampoo, handbags, glass, jewellery and
much much more. The girls enjoy learning these
skills.
CULTURE

The KVK program greatly develops the personality of

these young girls. They are educated through slokas,
poems, patriotic songs, kolatams, chekka Bajans, and
art. These instil moral and ethical values in the girls.
Several festivals are celebrated through cultural
activities like dance performances, skits and so on.
VKV teaches the girls important values like teamwork,
discipline, cooperation and such. VKV hosts an
activity where the girls form Balamsara Kendra groups
by age and take up teaching. They teach children
under ten in their localities about various subjects.
Cultural
Activities
Virat Bharat Yoga
12,074 people across various villages participated in this event. All
participants together performed over 2 crore Suryanamaskars,
furthering VKV's contribution to holistic wellness

Jute Bags
With the assistance of trained volunteers, Kishoris from all the
centres learnt how to make jute bags. Soon, they were able to make
these by themselves and even taught their mothers how to. They
sold their handmade bags virtually through Run programs.
Classical Dance
Classical Dance allows kids to strengthen their social, creative and
mental skills while also being an effective and fun source of
physical education. Kishoris interested in this art form are given
an opportunity to dance on stage. These performances are held
for events like independence day and various festivals
Sankranti Celebrations
Sankranti is the festival of harvest, a day dedicated to the sun god Surya. It is
one of the biggest festivals celebrated by Hindus. In each of the centres, the
Kishoris were told about the importance of the festival and the story behind
it. The girls made rangolis to celebrate the auspicious day

Bathukamma
Bathukamma is celebrated as the festival of flowers, to honour the
mother goddess of life. In the festival, flowers are stacked in concentric
circles, each smaller than the one below it. The Kishoris made these
flower stacks. They then worshipped the goddess by dancing around it
while singing the bathukamma songs.
Ganesh Chaturthi
Across the nation, Ganesh Chaturthi is a popular holiday among young
kids. The lord is worshipped in the form of clay models. In every centre,
the volunteers explain the importance of the festival and the kishoris
celebrate it through dance and food. During the celebrations, Kishoris
acquire many management and organisational skills.

Independence Day
Every year on August 15th Indians from every corner of the country come
together to celebrate the struggles our great freedom fighters went through to
gain independence for our nation. On this day, Kishoris participated in many
cultural programmes like sports, singing, dance, elocution, essay writing and
much more. In VKV, the Kishoris are taught to respect our country every day,
not just on independence or republic day.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
Annual Day
In any school, the annual day is a highly
anticipated event. Every year VKV pulls out all
the stops. The Samavayakarthas decide on the
events and programmes and practice begins. The
Kishoris practice earnestly every day and as the Annual Day celebrations
days go by the excitement only increases and
practice becomes more fervent. The day before
the event a dress rehearsal was held. On the day,
all the performances went by very smoothly and
the guests handed gifts to all the participating

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Seva Bharathi and Konda Laxman Babuji foundations together
provide scholarships for girls studying at various levels when they can't
afford the tuition fees

Meet P. Divya. Divya is currently studying to obtain a

BTech degree. Her father, unfortunately, passed away at
the end of her first year of college. At the time, her mother
was working and her wages could provide for her family’s
needs and Divya’s education. But sadly, her mother was
diagnosed with cancer and she could no longer work.
While her relatives agreed to pay for food and other
necessities, they had a conservative mindset and thought
she did not need a college degree. Hence, they wouldn’t
cover her tuition. Since money was tight at the time,
Divya was considering dropping out of college. However,
the Seva Bharathi foundation couldn’t let this happen. The
Seva Bharathi Foundation and the Konda Laxman Babuji
Foundation together are covering her tuition until she
graduates. The 2 foundations allowed Divya to pursue her
education, and not give up on her dreams.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Kashmoni Ruchita is a third-year college student from Lakmiguda. She is
studying to obtain a B.Sc honours degree in horticulture. She comes from a
family of 4 siblings, 3 of whom are girls. Her older sister had recently gotten
married, leaving them financially unstable. On the day of the deadline to pay her
tuition fees, her father borrowed money from people and managed to pay.
However, that left them in debt to others. Ruchita had reached out to the Seva
Bharathi foundation, asking for their help. Not wanting her to lose out on her
education, the Seva Bharathi foundation and the Konda Laxman Babuji
foundation covered her loans, allowing her to continue her education.

A Srawani was a student of Aadharsh Vidyalaya

school, later joining Sri Geetanjali junior college to
finish her intermediate schooling. Since her mother
had passed away from cancer, she was staying with
her father in a rental house. Coming from a poverty-
stricken family, even though she had successfully
finished her 11th and 12th grades, she couldn’t obtain
her certification as her family could not afford it. As
Seva Bharathi and the Konda Laxman Babuji
foundations recognize the hard work of such
students, the two foundations sponsored her and
allowed her to obtain her certification

SCHOLARSHIPS
Krishnaveni and Hemalatha are 2 sisters from a family of 5 siblings, all girls. One
older sister was married, and another is divorced. Their father had sadly passed
away, and their mother worked as a house helper in various houses. In such a
somewhat large family, the mother’s income was hardly sufficient to make ends
meet. This left them in a financially vulnerable situation. With the aid of the Seva
Bharathi and the Konda Laxman Babuji foundations, the two sisters can continue
their education. They are currently in their third year at Open university. While
being able to pay for their education, they’re also able to support their family
financially.

Pippala Poojitha is a first-year student at Vijaya college of
pharmacy. Poojitha comes from a relatively large family of
4 children, 3 sisters including her and a brother. Since her
father passed away a decade ago, their mother’s daily wage
job is their online source of income. However, all the
various expenses don’t leave them with much money to
spare, especially because they live in a rented home.
Poojitha was at risk of not being able to obtain her degree.
Not wanting this to happen, the Seva Bharathi and the
Konda Laxman Babuji foundations covered her tuition fees,
enabling her to keep studying
SCHOLARSHIPS

Lavanya is in her inter-second year at Chaitanya junior college.

Lavanya’s father passed away 7 years ago due to health complications.
Lavanya has 2 sisters, one younger and one older. Her mother works as a
tailor but unfortunately doesn’t make enough money to support her
family. But with the help of the Seva Bharathi and the Konda Laxman
Babuji foundations, the education of all three sisters can be accounted
for.

Lok Abhiram and Lok Aishwarya are siblings. Abhiram is pursuing a

BTech at Anurag university and Aishwarya is studying BiPC at Kasturba
Gandhi junior college. Their mother is a housewife and is suffering from
health issues. Their father goes to a minimum wage job every day. Their
money was insufficient to pay their bills, especially considering they live
in a rented house. The siblings were at risk of losing their education, but
the Seva Bharathi and the Konda Laxman Babuji foundations sponsored
their education and keep the family afloat.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Beeram Ammulu is an inter-second year student at Sri Geetanjali Junior
College. Ammulu’s mother passed away 6 years ago. Her father,
however, refuses to support her and her younger brother, leaving them
to live with their grandparents. As they grew older, it became more
challenging for the grandparents to financially support their
grandchildren, especially when it came to their education. To help
Ammulu out in the way they can, the Seva Bharathi and the Konda
Laxman Babuji foundations paid for her education, lifting at least one
burden off the family’s.
