I thought it’ll
help set the cinematography style and overall tone for the film first and what better scene to do
it with than the opening. The opening also didn’t call for many resources, when it came to
actors, I only needed two and one would be exclusively voice acting for the computer. The
location was also in one room, a room that just so happened to be inspired by mine.
The budget ended up being completely nonexistent as I didn’t end up having to spend any real
money. The movie was filmed with a camera I already owned, the actors were my friend and
myself. All the lighting equipment was just lights I already owned and decided to play with and
mess around to make the picture look more cinematic. The music I found on a royalty free
music site online, I had to scroll for almost 2 hours looking for something that’ll fit the one and
style All the postproduction was done by me, all the editing was also done on DaVinci resolve.
Some of the script was changed then and there on set, either stuff I was unsatisfied with or
needed to change then and there or small little improv that my actor came up with on the spot
had to be added. With the script already small, especially this scene alone I did feel there was a
little more space to extend the scene with little lass minutes additions specially since it was
such a carefree production. The only obstacles we saw facing were room rearrangement to be
able to achieve some angles that normally aren’t obtainable, having to either move my bed or
Looking back at the production of the scene, I do wish I could’ve let the camera run a little
longer, be more patient with my actors. I went full Eastwood using the first take for most of the
shots we collected, in hopes of not annoying my acting friends. I also wish I could’ve done a
little color grading work to put some practice into it. Aside from that probably wish I could’ve
implemented a little more camera movement, a lot of the shots are static or well steady and
hold focus on the middle of the frame a lot, maybe too much for comfort.
