Preliminary Task: Evaluation

Our task was a simple one; we were asked to film a scene where a character opens a door, walks across a room, sits down at a table and converses with another character. To begin with we organized our location for the shoot. We asked a friends mum if we were able to film in her caf and she said we could. We then had the task of creating the costumes for the dynamic duo; featured in our video. We asked my mum to create Captain Camps outfit. For the equipment we used my Canon DSLR and a Rode external microphone for the video and sound. The shoot went well; we got a large amount of footage we could use and the sound and video came out really well. But there were things we could have done better. The light for the shoot was provided by the sun as we did not have access to any external lights. This gave the image a yellow look to it but I altered the white balance as best I could to counteract it so the image was still usable. We were also restricted with the number of cameras. It would have been nicer to film the entire convocation with two cameras so that the cuts would be more fluid because it was the same convocation that was being edited together. I felt the main problem with the video was the editing. We had a limited time to construct our film and I would have liked to have had a little bit longer on it. The cuts were not as sharp as Id have liked and the volume levels on the music were sometimes too loud. But the choice of music for the film really worked and from the audiences reaction gave the video a comedic feel which we wanted to achieve. Overall the final video was good but I would have liked longer in post-production to finish it off to a god standard.
