Blended Learning Lesson Plan

Lesson Title: Maintaining a lifetime

Objectives:
Students will be able to learn how maintain lifetime Healthy and Active lifestyle
State Standards:

Context: In physical education students should obtain the skills to maintain a healthy life style.
In class students have had lessons about both eating and exercising in a healthy lifestyle.
Students will us their knowledge on the daily recommended amounts of nutrients. This is
building up for the overall assignment of tracking their nutrients and exercise for a month. We
are teaching students how to keep track of their eating and exercise.
Data: The students will be randomly assigned a number 1 through 3. Whichever number they
receive will be the group they are in.
Materials: Students will be using MyFitnessPal website and a YouTube video.
Procedures:
Introduction (15 minutes): In the beginning I will explain to the students the overall goal of the
whole lesson. Starting with explain that the first collaborative group is for the students to work
together, and problem solve. Followed by the second independent group will help students learn
how to track their daily lifestyle. Then finally a teacher directed will teach a simple longevities
workout routine.

Teacher Directed (20 minutes): Students will start by starting this group by me
explaining what the recommended daily exercise is. “A healthy lifestyle consists of a average of
150 minutes of exercise a week, with two days of muscle resistance exercise.” Then we will as a
group perform each different type of exercise. Starting with cardio exercises students will run 2
high intensity 100 Meter runs. Followed by sandbag lift resistance overhead press. Students will
have options of three different weights. After students will do a cool down walk around the gym
until the group time is up.

Collaborative (20 minutes): In this group students will have the opportunity to get a
partner among their group. Then as a group as a whole the students will watch a YouTube video
on the different strategies to maintain healthy life. As the video is going on students and their
partners will fill out their own strategy lists, with both nutritional and exercise strategies. Then at
the end comparing each of their strategies with the whole group.

Independent Digital (20minutes): In this group students will be on the My fitness pal
website/app. Students will use their school devices to explore the website. Then start their own
nutrient tracker. Tracking everything they have ate in the past week and counting up their
calories. Then comparing them to the recommended amount.

Closure (15minutes): I will use this ending time to ask the students how they felt about
the groups. Asking if they understood and were confident in being able to live a long healthy life.
Asking if they may have had any questions about maintaining a healthy life that I may not have
covered.

Rationale:
\(MyFitnessPal): This is a great app that can teach students the basics of tracking their daily
lifestyle. This will hopefully encourage student to participate in maintaining a healthy lifestyle
even after school. This app will ask for height and weight so it can personalize each tip and
goals to each student. This keeping each students goals discrete and prevents bullying.

(YouTube Video) YouTube is the single most great multimedia service ever. People are able to
find endless information, tutorials to just overall entertainment on one app. In this assignment
students will sit and watch a video as a group, which student tend to like more than a casual
lecture. Then the student will have time to talk amongst themselves and express their thoughts on
what they had just learned.
