MoH&FW Introduces India’s First

The Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare (MoH&FW) introduced National Suicide
Prevention Strategy, the first of its kind in India,
to achieve a reduction in suicide mortality
by 10% by 2030 with time-bound action plans and
multi-sectoral collaborations.
✓ In India, more than 1 lakh lives are lost
annually due to suicide. Suicide is the
leading cause of death among 15-29 years-
olds. In the past 3 years, the suicide rate has
increased from 10.2 to 11.3 per
1,00,000 populations.

Madurai Becomes Tamil Nadu’s 1st
Biodiversity Heritage Site
The government of Tamil Nadu has notified the
193.215 hectares of area spread
across Arittapatti(Melur taluk)
and Meenakshipuram(Madurai taluk)
in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu as “Arittapatti
Biodiversity Heritage Site”. It is Tamil
Nadu’s first and India’s 35th Biodiversity
Heritage Site (BHS).

The 16th Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS)
was released by the National Statistical Office
(NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme
Implementation (MoSPI).
✓ As per it, India’s unemployment rate (UR)
for persons aged 15 years and above in
urban areas declined to 7.2% during July-
September 2022 from 9.8% July-September
2021.

According to Mercom India Research’s Mercom
India Rooftop Solar Market Report Q3 2022, India
has installed more than 1.2 GigaWatts(GW) of
rooftop solar capacity in a duration of 9 months of
the calendar year 2022(CY22), this accounts for a
decline of 11% compared to the corresponding
period in 2021.
✓ India has installed around 320 Mega
Watts(MW) of Rooftop solar capacity in the
3rd Quarter of CY22, a year-over-year
decline of approximately 29%. The installed
capacity has fallen by over 18% on a
quarter-over-quarter(QoQ) basis.
✓ According to the report, Maharashtra
recorded the most rooftop solar installation
in Q3CY22 followed by Kerala and Gujarat.
✓ Gujarat tops the list of Cumulative solar
installations with 23% followed by
Maharashtra at 13% and Rajasthan at 10%.

a panel to revamp Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA),

direct more work to India’s poorer regions.

that overnight balances held by banks with the RBI
under the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) will be
eligible as “Level 1 High Quality Liquid Assets
(HQLA)” for the computation of the Liquidity
Coverage Ratio (LCR).

applicable to all Commercial Banks

April-September FY23 (H1FY23) from USD 31.15

Sounding Rocket
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
has conducted its 200th consecutively successful
launch of the Rohini “RH-200” sounding rocket
from its lead facility, the Vikram Sarabhai Space
Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
✓ RH-200 is a solid-motor-powered,
expendable rocket capable of reaching a
height of 70 km while carrying payloads
meant to explore the upper atmosphere.
India successfully test firest IRBM Agni-3
from Odisha; DRDO’s Compendium on

India carried out a successful training launch of an
Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM),
Agni-3 from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. This
test was a part of routine user training launches

administer the nuclear forces of India.

Policy 2022 on the sidelines of the ‘Assam Tourism
Road Show 2022’ which was hosted by the
Department of Tourism, Government of Assam.

Protsahan Yojana – 2022 to ensure participation
by the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled
Tribes (STs) in the industrial development in
Rajasthan.
✓ Under the scheme, an interest subsidy of 9
% on loans of up to Rs 25 lakh and an
interest subsidy of 7 % on loans of up to Rs
5 crore will be provided.
✓ Additionally, up to 25 % margin money on
the project cost of up to Rs 25 lakh is also
provided.
Maharashtra Govt Signs MoU with
Women’s World Banking to Strengthen
BC Sakhi Program
MoU b/w: Government of Maharashtra & the
United States (US)-based Women’s World Banking
Purpose: to operationalise and strengthen 5,000
women of self-help groups (SHGs) to become
business correspondents (BC Sakhis) supporting
banking services in rural areas.

KSEB develops Common App for E-
Vehicle Charging Stations
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has
developed a mobile app named ‘Kerala E-Mobility
App’ (KeMapp), which will serve as a common
platform for accessing the services of e-vehicle
charging stations.
