Friendship is very significant in my life because my friends are my second family. I have
a lot of friends. But I have about five closest friends. I select’ my friends. My best friend
is like my sister. She has long dark brown hair with brown eyes, and she has long
eyelashes. She has a straight nose and full lips. She is about 162 centimeters like me. I
have known her for five years. We are alike in many ways. We are always there for each
other. For me, the most important inner qualities are honesty and reliability. My best
friend is open-minded and energetic, and she has a good sense of humor. I can’t stand
people who are arrogant and condescending. People who are sugary and try to please
everyone are even worse. I wouldn’t say I like this kind of people. When I am talking to a
new person, it’s essential to be open-minded, kind, funny, honest. I want her or him to be
a good talking partner and have a common theme. In my opinion, life has changed so
much.

My grandparents spent the evenings together chatting or playing cards; nowadays, instead
of talking, people watch TV or video or spend hours sitting in front of the computer
screen. Though people probably have more free time, different generations’ interests are
so divergent that they rarely have typical activities. These days it’s more frequent and
easier to keep in contact by phone than come together. Modern technology makes life
easier in several respects. I meet my grandparents once a week, but I call them on the
phone if I don’t have a chance. I keep in touch with my other relatives either by e-mail or
letters and occasionally even chat on the Internet. Many of my relatives live far away from
us, so these are the best way to speak to them.
