Multiple Reflections
Plane mirror produces images which are always on the same size as the object as they reflect, same distance
as the objects, left-right reversed, upright and virtual (image seems to be on one place but is not really there)
Objective: To determine the images formed by two plane mirrors mounted at different angle.
Materials:
Two plane mirrors, pencil, transparent tape, (pin or any small object)
Procedure:
1. Hinge two plane mirrors using a transparent tape. Place the mirrors on top of the protractor (use the
following angles below).
2. Look at the mirror and count the number of images formed when a pin is place in front of it.

Data and Result:

Angle between mirror Number of images

180

90

60

45

30

Guide Questions
1. What do you observe about the number of images of the pin as the angle between the mirror decreases?

2. If the mirrors are place parallel to each other, how many images will be formed?
