 Definition

• It is a sequence of tasks that must be completed to attain

a certain outcome.
• According to the Project Management Institute (PMI), the
term Project refers to “any temporary endeavor with a
definite beginning and end”.
• Depending on its complexity, it can be managed by a
single person or hundreds.

• Often, projects are divided into five project phases each of which
comes with a distinct set of tasks, objectives, and a particular
deadline.
• Dividing a project into different phases enables teams to stay on
track throughout their entire life cycle.
1. Initiation:
• During the Project Initiation phase, project stakeholders and
investors consider if a project is viable.
• this is when you consider what the main objective and related
goals are, and what kind of resources will be needed to realize the
project.

• The Project Planning phase breaks your project into its
components and elaborates on the ways the project will work.
• During this phase, you consider what every participant should do
for the project to succeed while meeting the budget plan,
deadlines, quality level, and other parameters.

• At this stage, the most important activities are:
• Breaking your project down into smaller components
• Establishing deadlines and presenting milestone charts
• Comprising a chart that illustrates the working plan and deadlines
• Estimation and gathering of resources
• Defining ways and communication modes
• Establishing the outcomes and deliveries for each step
• Risk evaluation and forecasting
