The document describes the SA/Khelo India Fitness Test used in Indian schools to assess student fitness levels. The test battery evaluates core components of physical fitness and divides students into two age groups: 5-8 years and 9-18 years. For ages 5-8, the test consists of measuring body mass index, the flamingo balance test, and a plate tapping test. It provides details on how body mass index is calculated based on an individual's weight, height, and age. The test is designed to measure student fitness and identify areas for improvement.

I. FITNESS TEST— SA/ KHELO INDIA FITNESS TEST IN SCHOOL
SAl Khelo India Fitness test battery (a set of physical fitness tests) is designed by sports authority of India to access the fitness level of students in schools. The fundamental components of physical fitness of students are evaluated with the help of this test. For assessing, students are divided into two age groups: 5 to 8 years and 9 to 18 years. Age group 5 to 8 years In this group, grade 1 to grade 3 students are covered. This test battery consists of three tests: . Body Mass Index (BMI) test • Flamingo test • Plate tapping test Body Mass Index (BMI) Test The Body Mass Index (BMI) or the Quetelet Index is a mathematical value that expresses the relationship between body weight and height of an individual. It was invented by the Belgian mathematician, statistician and sociologist, Adolphe Quetelet. It is a very simple method for testing physical fitness of an individual. BMI has a direct relationship with body fat and is an effective instrument used to calculate the ideal body weight of an individual based on his/her height. It helps to know whether a person is underweight, overweight, obese or has normal weight. It is important to know the BMI accurately in order to take preventive measures against the various health risks associated with the different categories of weight. This test is applicable for both men and women. It should be noted that the test results in case of children and the elderly may not be valid as the relationship between muscles and bone length or height keeps on changing. In order to calculate BMI, an individual's sex, height and body weight are noted. BMI is then calculated using the following formula: Body weight (in kg) BMI Height x Height (in metres) Since the body weight is calculated in kilograms and height is expressed in metres, BMI is expressed in the following unit:
