Dear Muammar
I want to extend to you my best wishes for your studies this semester in the College of Business,
Government and Law.
The College has adopted a new mission, to embrace innovative knowledge and practice to tackle the
challenges of our time, with a strategic focus on technology, health and social impact. We are now
firmly focussed on delivering a learning experience that will enable you to contribute as a graduate to
the workplace of the future, and to our community.
Thank you for your willingness to work with us as we all adapt to constantly changing conditions. At
Flinders we understand that sometimes students can face various struggles, and I encourage you to
persevere and get in touch when you need support to find your way. If you are able to attend your
classes on campus, I urge you to make that part of your routine. Whether you are on campus or
online, please visit the online hub and explore the tips and tricks for success presented in the Like a
Boss series.
To set yourself up for success, make sure you get to know your peers online and on campus, ask
your tutors and professors to explain when you don't understand an assignment, reach out to
counsellors if you're stressed, take advantage of support offered to help you write essays, and other
academic skills. For undergraduate students in their first semester of study, you have access to a
senior student mentor in your discipline who will help guide you through the semester and give you
lots of tips and tricks. Mentoring takes place weekly for around 30-60 minutes, available both on
campus and online. If you have any questions about the program or don’t know who your mentor is,
please email cbgl.mentoring@flinders.edu.au.
If you run into trouble with your studies, your tutors and topic coordinators are the first people to turn
to find a way through. If you are still having difficulties, you can contact course advisors and staff in
the College office, who can guide you to take the next steps.
We also reach out to our students through social media channels, so make sure to follow Flinders
socials (Facebook: Ask Flinders and Flinders University; Instagram: Hey Flinders and Flinders
University) to stay up-to-date with the latest University news, upcoming key dates and events.
Flinders values student experience as central to our ethos, and your achievement, your voice and
your needs are important to us. We recognise that equity, inclusion and respect are important in
creating the healthy shared space in which we can work, study and achieve success together.
I wish you a productive, safe and successful semester. My colleagues and I look forward to
welcoming you, both online and on campus.
Best regards,
Christopher Kee
