What drives your interest at Airlift?

Airlift has raised more than $100 million in venture capital from some of the world's most
recognisable investors and is actively pursuing international expansion. Moreover, I think in
Pakistan’s Q-commerce industry a value that can added to enhance an impact is to provide a safe,
reliable, and affordable access to necessities and Airlift is taking steps to this goal. Using Airlift`s UI,
the customers are empowered to see, compare, and select from a large assortment of products at
affordable prices. So, joining Airlift team at this early stage provides an unprecedented learning
experience that might change the course of one`s career.

Currently, Airlift is doing its part in creating an impact in Pakistan`s economy, and with my focus on
solving the socio-economic and financial inclusion issue in Pakistan, I can add some value to this
bigger goal myself while working at Airlift.

What is your greatest learning from the past one year?

My greatest learning from the past one year is that I am driven by my ability to create a long-term
impact and I want to work at a place where I can create an impact. Joining Krave Mart, after leaving
the largest E-commerce marketplace of Pakistan, Daraz.pk, made me realize how my work can add
value to the end goal of giving quick, reliable and affordable access to the customer needs/wants.
When I joined Krave Mart back in January this year, the only thought I had in my mind was to face
new challenges, learn something new every day, and ultimately create an impact in the long run.
Starting fom scratch, I worked cross-functionally with all the relevant departments to launch Krave
Mart in Lahore with just 4 dark stores at our disposal hoping to acquire much customers and orders
to expand our operations to other areas in Lahore. A major challenge with running the operations of
a startup is the availability of assortment for the end customer. Being new to the industry, many
Brands and distributors were reluctant with aligning product deliveries to us, so me and my team
has to procure most of the assortment from large retailers to make the business running. I myself
had to pick products from the aisles, pack them, and load them onto trucks. I did all this keeping in
mind that such things don’t matter when the goal is to create an impact which would ultimately
bring great change in the Q-Commerce industry. Within 3 weeks we were able to open 4 new dark
stores with thousands of orders coming in, hence creating a long-term impact of giving access to
almost 3000+ SKUs, maximizing utility for the customers and that too within 10 minutes at their door
steps.

If you could solve one problem in the world, what would it be and why?

I think the one problem that needs to be solved in this world right now, is the social, economic, and
financial inclusion of the masses to combat poverty and income inequality. In todays world, most of
the people don’t have any financial and employment security and they operate in the grey
economy/market where they are under paid with no proper terms on employment. So, in order to
solve this problem, the focus should not be on a top down approach, rather we should focus at the
bottom of the pyramid where people are included in the economy. By that I mean, is to provide
them with better employment opportunities with good benefits so that they can play their part in
improving the economy. For example, if Airlift provides and empowers drivers, employees, and
suppliers with good benefits it can help create a bigger impact in the longer run and help eradicate
poverty and inequality. Expanding business into newer markets brings in the opportunity to include
bigger masses in the business, and that’s what Airlift is doing currently. With expansion, Airlift is
giving opportunities to people based on business needs, job requirements and individual potential
and qualifications, without regard to race, color, age, religion, socioeconomic status, orientation,
gender identity, national origin or disability. So, working for Airlift coincides with my idea of solving
this problem and that`s how I can play my part in solving this social, economic, and financial
inclusion problem.
