Search five friction problems and solve it using the formulas that I have given to you. Draw the free body
diagram for each problem. 1. A 248 kg object moving at 19 m/s comes to stop over a distance of 38 m.
What is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the surfaces?

2. A 5kg block is held at rest at the top of slope inclined at 20°. When the block is let go it slides down
the slope, experiencing friction along the way. If the acceleration of the block down the ramp is 𝑎 = −5 𝑚
𝑠 2 , what is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and ramp?
3. A small child struggles to pull his heavy suitcase through an airport. He tugs it along with a rope at an
angle of 30∘ to the ground. The child exerts a force of 50N, which is just enough to pull the suitcase
along with constant velocity. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the ground and the suitcase is
μ=0.3

4. A block of wood with mass 1kg is clamped to a vertical board with a force of 10N. What is the
minimum vertical force needed to move the block upward? 𝜇 = 0.15 𝑔 = 10 𝑚 𝑠 2
5. A 5kg box slides across the floor with an initial velocity of 5ms. If the coefficient of kinetic friction
between the box and the floor is 0.1, how much time will it take for the box to come to a stop?
