Debate Procedures

1. The person who starts the debate is the first speaker from the affirmative team. This person has
three minutes (3) to speak.
a. This person introduces the affirmative team's main argument (1), meaning that this person
does NOT rebut. He/she defines the key words if necessary.
Second person to speak in the debate is the first speaker from the negative team.
a. He /she introduces negative team's main argument (1). He/she defines the key words if
necessary.
b. He/ she rebuts the argument made by the first speaker of the opposing team. This person has
three minutes (3) to speak.

3.The second speaker from each team continue engaging in arguments and rebuttals.
a. The second speaker from the affirmative team is going to rebut the argument of the first
speaker from the negative team. Additionally, this person is going to present more arguments (up
to 3 maximum). This person has five minutes (5) to speak.
b. The second speaker from the negative team is going to rebut the arguments made by the
second speaker from the affirmative team. Additionally, this person is going to present more
arguments (up to 3 maximum). This person has five minutes (5) to speak.

4. The last speaker from the affirmative team is going to rebut the arguments made by the second
speaker from the negative team, and summarize all the arguments of the team. This person has
three minutes (3) to speak.
The last speaker from the negative team is going to summarize all the arguments of the team.
This person has three minutes (3) to speak.
