This study used descriptive and comparative methods to examine the relationship between saving behaviors of 30 third-year BSMA students at Saint Mary's University and two factors: family and peers. Descriptive statistics were calculated to analyze the perceived impact of these factors, and the Mann-Whitney U-test was used to determine if there were significant differences between the impacts of family versus peers on students' saving habits. The independent variables were family and peers, and the dependent variable was the students' saving behaviors.

This study used a descriptive-comparative method of research. Descriptive research
was utilized to describe the demographic profile of the BSMA students of Saint Mary’s University particularly under the nominal are; age and sex. Comparative procedure likewise used to determine the relationship between students saving behavior and the two factors (family and peer). Descriptive statistics such as weighted means and standard deviations were used to determine the perceived factors that affect the saving habits of BSMA students. We gathered our samples from 30 BSMA 3rd students, specifically, as they have more awareness on our research and could provide the necessary responses for us. Objectively, the stated problem is, Is there a significant difference between perceived factors, family and peers, that affect the saving behavior of BSMA students? It would be stated as Ho if there is no significant difference between perceived factors, family and peers, that affect the saving behavior of BSMA students, or otherwise Ha, if there is significant difference. We set the level of significance to 5%. The perceived factors, family and peers, are independent variables that affect the saving habits of BSMA students. Instead of using the t-test for independent samples, as it was usually the first to be considered, we used the mann-whitney u-test as our possible test because our data is ordinal as we have used Likert scale questionnaire in our data gathering. In doing preliminary analysis, our objective is comparison of the perceived factors, namely: family and peers. The type of data is numerical.
