Compare between sweetening processes for crude oil ?

1- stage vaporization with stepping gas

• This method depends on having several separators with stepping agent.

• In this process, ethane and propane will be liberated with H2S.
• Sweet gas is injected to increase the removal efficiency at each separator.
• The effectiveness of the process depends on the pressure at the first separator, the
components of the well, and the characteristics of the sweet gas.

2-trayed stabilization with strpping gas

• This method depends on a column containing (a nonreflux) atray stabilizer with sweet
gas as the stripping gas.
• At the first separator, part of the sour gas will come out and the oil will come out to the
top of the column (top of the tray), countercurrent strpping sweet gas.
• Sweet oil goes to storage tanks, and gas from the top of the separator and tank is
usually burned.
• This process is more efficient than the first process

3-Rebolied trayed stabilization

• This method depends on the presence of re-boilers, and it is the most effective way to
sweetening sour oil.
• In this process there is a reboiler that generates vapors that flow to the top of the column
instead of using a separation gas.
• Because the vapor pressure of H2S is higher than that of propane, it is easy to remove
H2S gas from crude oil.
• In this process there is sufficient contact between the vapor / liquid and the exit of small
pentane particles from the top, and this method is more effective than the previous
methods.
