2. WORK METHODOLOGY
2.1 General Preparation work and Control measures
1. Access: Fixed scaffolding to be provided to access roof level and to provide a safe working platform for operatives.
Full edge protection to be in place and fall restraint systems or crash deck to prevent falls through roof structure
during construction. Ladders are only to be used for access and short duration work, and only when there is no
suitable alternative. Preferred access equipment includes full access scaffolding, tower scaffold. Access
equipment will be securely stored at the end of each shift to prevent unauthorized use. Exclusion zones will be
established in the area below from risk of any failing tools or materials.
2. Delivery & Storage: All required materials to be delivered to the site prior to work commencing. All equipment and
materials delivered to the site and stored at a designated location in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
and any application. Material will be stored safely away from access routes. Materials to be stored within storage
units or otherwise protected from weather conditions.
3|Page

3. Preparation: Perimeter scaffolding to be provided for full edge protection, working platform and safe
access/egress. The edge protection must be strong enough to withhold a person leaning against it. Safey decking
system to be erected or other effective fall prevention system and working platforms.
4. Roof work: Roof materials will be safely lifted to the roof area. Materials lifted under the control of a lifting plan for
the lifting operations. Fall protection to be provide throughout the roofing works, either via permanent edge
protection, full access scaffolding providing edge protection or for minor repair works, fall protection will be via
harness and lanyard connected to suitable attaching device. All materials temporarily stored on the roof will be
evenly distributed and away from roof edges. All equipment and service checked to ensure they are sufficiently
secured to roof. Do not place materials to be cut directly onto scaffolding boards. Where roof sheets cut by
powered saw, ensure that the equipment is in good order. Only to be used by experienced operatives. Additional
PPE to be worm during cutting operations including wear eye protection, ear protection and a respiratory
protection.

Kitchen roof structural layout plan

2.2 Work Process
- Secure necessary work permit representative prior to starts of work/activity.
- Check the connection points to confirm locations, orientation elevation and condition.
- Mobilize all manpower, tools and equipment needed for the job.
- Adequate scaffolding material, shall be provided and used during installation.
- Passive fall protection measures by way of a crash deck will be installed.
- Prior to install the lightweight roof sheets, the purlins shall be completed for installation and connected to the main
steel structure. All purlin connections are the welding, welding size are to be equal to the thickness of purlin
member unless otherwise noted.

4|Page
Novotel Phnom Penh Project Ms of Kitchen lightweight roofing installation at L26
- The purlins installation and connection shall be done in accordance the approval shop drawing and meet
requirement, RHS 100x50x3.2@1000 (max).
- The rust, deckle edge, dirt and so on shall be cleaned up before welding work and need to clean component
surface on each side of the weld.

- After completed for purlins installation, the roof sheets shall be installed. Lightweight oof sheet (thk. 0.5mm,
30g/m2) material shall be followed the approval of material submission.
- Roof sheets installation should begin at the gable end of the roof opposite the prevailing rain-bearing wind.
Remember to allow for overhang into the gutter after taking into account, gutter shall be followed the shop drawing;
gutter material is the galvanize steel sheet.
- Measure one sheet width in from the roof edge. At this point chalk a line from ridge to eave. Place the leading
edge of the first sheet along this line. It is extremely important that this sheet be laid square to the eave and ridge
so that the remaining sheets will line up square on the roof frame. It is wise to have a person at the eave and at
the ridge to ensure that the proper sheet coverage is being maintained across the roof. In applications where end-
lapping is necessary, the upper sheet on the slope should lap over the sheet that is lower on the slope.
- Blade cutting, sometimes we can use a hand-held grinder with an abrasive wheel attachment or a circular saw
with a ferrous cutting blade. While we work fine, most sheet manufacturers do not recommend cutting sheets with
any sort of abrasive wheel/blade because it allows for a place (the edges) where corrosion can start. (Regardless,
we’re going to find a circular saw makes quick work of the job.) When using a ferrous cutting blade on a circular
saw, make sure the cutting of sheets from the underside because the saw guides will undoubtedly scratch the
finish of the panels

5|Page
Novotel Phnom Penh Project Ms of Kitchen lightweight roofing installation at L26
- When installing a lightweight roof sheet, it’s need to use metal roofing screws. Metal roofing screws are used to
attach roof sheets to a structure, for instance substate purlin.
- The roof sheets shall be fastened by screw fixing, fasteners should penetrate substrate. The roof sheets shall
offer a full purlin bearing overlap.
- The screws spacing shall be determined, most jobs with metal purlins are fastened at each row of purlins. A
majority of projects have screw line spacing at 600mm on center, projects can vary for 450mm on center to
900mm.

- Ensure that for every screwing point shall be sealed by sealant to protect water leaking. Sealant material shall be
antas-193 Silicone Weatherproof Sealant, same as aluminum alloy for curtainwall application.

Sealant sealing for screwing point

- Replacing screw, carefully check the fasteners, and see if the screws have moved. Any screws that are protruding
from the sheets will need to be refastened. If screws are broken or worn down, these will need to be replaced.
- Once the work is completed, any surplus material will be safely removed and operatives will leave the roof via
scaffold ladders to the floor level. The site will be made good and control handed back to the client.
2.3 Rectification for defecting works
- Any works completed and get damaged shall be rectified with the same materials, Repeat the same procedure
for other areas if any. Ensure the rectification meet the requirements.
- Contractor to strictly control and check the site workmanship.

3. QUALITY CONTROL
1. QC inspector will be assigned to attended to the quality control and assurance of this work.
2. QC inspector shall be responsible to conduct all required inspection to ensure that all applicable requirements,
codes and standards are complied with.
3. After passing the self-inspection, apply for the supervision and the owner’s representative to carry out the pre-
acceptance of the project.
4. Implement the rectification project proposed by the pre-acceptance.
5. After the rectification is qualified, apply for formal acceptance by the supervisor, owner, and local quality
inspection department.

Antas-193
Silicone Weatherproof Sealant

Primer Primer is not usually required when using antas-193. However,

Antas-193 sealant adhesion should always be tested in advance to determine
Silicone the need of a primer or not. If required, the primer should be applied
Weatherproof into a thin film to the joint surface by using a clean lint-free cloth
Sealant and allowed to dry before sealant application

Curing and antas-193 begins curing when it contacts with the moisture in air. It
maintenance generally cures 2mm/day, and takes 21 days for fully-cure. In the
beginning of using the sealant, please remain the sealant places
fixed and flat. Solvent can be used to clean the fractured sealants
and then fill up with the new sealants with same color and quality.

Safety It is nontoxic after entirely cured. Avoid direct contact with eyes
when operating. If happened, rinse opened eye under running
water for several minutes. During the curing process, sealant will
release a small amount of organic molecules. Construction should
ensure good ventilation. If necessary, take protective measures.
Please keep children out of reach.
