PRE-PROPOSAL STATEMENT
Project Title: Design and Development of a Mobile-Based Boat Reservation
System with SMS Notification using iTexMo API for the
Municipality of Corcuera.

Background: As the seas surround the island, Corcuera’s main

form of transportation is by motorized boat. Motorboat is very
important to the island because it is the only way to get food or
meet the material needs of the people on the island. However,
the boat ticket reservations and registration process are still
managed manually on the island. This manual process could
cause delays and be very inefficient to cater and reach out to
more passengers because they need to line up and wait a long
time. Furthermore, due to the pandemic, it is currently more
difficult to obtain information about boat trips, as it is unclear
when the next trip will be available or if the trip will be canceled
due to the unpredictable rising number of COVID-19 cases.
Thus, the proponents will propose a mobile-based application for
resolving the issue of boat reservations. The system will act as
an intermediate between customers and boat renting service
providers, allow the users to check boat availability, purchase or
pay for boat tickets online and to book a boat within a few
minutes.

Scope of the This project will solely focus on designing and developing of the
Project / Study: boat reservation system. It covers only boat trips reservation and
transaction in the municipality of Corcuera. Usefulness of the
reservation system will also be tested and evaluated by the
 passenger and boat operators who were randomly selected.

Limitations of the
Study:
The system can only function with data and a Wi-Fi connection
and can only be accessed on android mobile devices.
