That first edition was held in Uruguay in 1930. The local team was crowned champion after
beating Argentina in the final by 4 goals to 2 in the newly built Centenario Stadium in
Montevideo.

THE TROPHY
The World Cup is a 6,142-kilogram trophy , 5 of them gold ,
given to the winners of the Soccer World Cup every four
years. Since the inception of the World Cup in 1930 , two
different trophies have been used: the Jules Rimet Trophy
from 1930 to 1970 , and the FIFA World Cup Trophy from
1974 onwards .
THE BALL
To obtain the right to host a World Cup, the applicant must have an
absolute majority (50 percent + 1) of the votes of the members of the
FIFA Executive Committee present.
In the event of a tie, the FIFA President has the casting vote.
In this World Cup, cards were used for the first time, so that
everyone could be aware of the players who were cautioned
or sent off. However, no players were sent off. Uruguay was the
team that received the most yellow cards with 6.
