Unit I Thematic Project – 2-page Essay

– Personal Trainer –

To be a personal trainer, you must be willing to be a hard worker and put in time and

effort in order to be successful. Also, you need to be personable, have a good sense of humor, be

a good listener, have a thirst for knowledge, be reliable, and also live an active lifestyle. Well

lucky for me, I happen to have a lot of these qualities. In order to become a personal trainer, you

need to go through all of the schooling and training required to earn your certifications. In this

essay, I will not only tell you how well being a personal trainer would fit into my lifestyle, but

also all of the education and training requirements in order to become a certified personal trainer.

Becoming a personal trainer would fit into my lifestyle perfectly for multiple reasons.

The main reason is that I’m a very active person. I love to exercise and it is a key aspect of my

current lifestyle and also a part of the lifestyle I hope to live when I am an adult. Personal

trainers have to be active so they can set a good example for their clients and so that they can be

able to exercise with them. If a personal trainer was not active, they are not likely to attract

clients because if you can’t even get yourself in shape, you can’t expect someone to trust that

you can get them to be healthy and fit. You have to be prepared to lead by example. I feel I

would make an excellent personal trainer because I could turn a key part of my life into a

successful career. Another reason becoming a personal trainer would fit into my lifestyle is the

work schedule. Sure there can be some days where you have to work long hours, but for the most

part many personal trainers have flexible schedules. This would fit into my lifestyle because I

would want to have flexible hours so I can have time to spend with friends and family. Being a

personal trainer means you can have some freedom when planning your schedule, which means I

would be able to plan the majority of my sessions on days and times that are convenient for my
schedule. A final reason being a personal trainer would fit into my lifestyle is that I love to help

people reach their goals. If I was a personal trainer, I could constantly be meeting new clients

and help them reach their goals. All in all, the career choice of being a personal trainer would fit

into my lifestyle so well. I could get to make a key part of my life a career, schedule my own

hours, and get to help people reach their goals.

Before I can become a personal trainer, I will need to come up with a plan for my

education and training requirements. The amount of education needed depends on the type of

work you want to do.The minimum amount of education needed for a personal trainer is a high

school diploma and your personal training or group exercise certification. If you want to teach at

a school, you will need a Bachelor’s degree and to teach at a college, you would need a Master’s

degree and/or a PhD. To be a coach, you need a Bachelor’s degree. The training requirements

that are needed are all of the certain certifications for the job you are interested in doing. As far

as my education plan goes, I plan on getting at least my Bachelor’s degree. If I plan on just being

a personal trainer, I will probably just earn my Bachelor’s degree and all of my required

certifications. However, if I decide that I want to be a fitness instructor and teach classes at a

college, I will go on to earn my Master’s degree and/or PhD, and my required certifications.

In conclusion, becoming a personal trainer would be a great career choice for me to

choose. Being a personal trainer would fit into my lifestyle so well because being active is a key

aspect of my current and future lifestyle, I could choose most of my own hours to work, and I

could meet new people and help them not only overcome physical challenges, but also mental

obstacles as well. Also, the amount of schooling I would need to become a personal trainer

would really depend on what personal training field I would want to go into. I will earn at least

my Bachelor’s and certifications so I can train people but, if I decide I want to teach at a college,
I will go back to school to earn my Master’s and/or PhD. Overall, becoming a personal trainer

would fit into my chosen lifestyle very well and the amount of schooling I would need can really

be up to me.
