Assignment 7
What is it?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications are being used world wide in

school settings. For the sake of this assignment, I’m going to narrow
it down and talk specifically about adaptive learning softwares in the
classroom. Adaptive learning, which is a type of artificial intelligence,
is a software that helps students and teachers help personalize
learning styles and much more.
How is it used?

Adaptive learning systems aid students in their learning by

combining assessments, instruction, learning, and practice.
Depending on the specific software, there may be quizzes, games,
question/answers, note taking, all while the system is keeping track
with how the students are doing. Once the adaptive learning
“lesson” have been completed, the teachers can then look at how the
student learns and come up with a learning route for that specific
child. Adaptive learning softwares can also be used as a personalized
homework plan to make sure that everychild gets an opportunity to
learn at their own pace, an example of this software would be
“ALEKS”.
Pros vs Cons

Pros- Cons-
❖ Lots of quizzes, tests, and
❖ Increased assessments. May be
engagement, harder for students who
students won’t don’t test well
have to sit through ❖ Hard to know if students
lessons they are truly improving, or if
already know. they’re just guessing
through it all
❖ Instant feedback,
feedback with
examples so
students can
immediately
correct mistakes
and practice
