Bukit Batok Formation

The Bukit Batok Formation is newly identified lithostratigraphical unit named after
the Bukit Batok planning area in west-central Singapore. The estimated maximum
thickness of this formation is several hundred metres.
The formation comprises interbedded sandstone and mudstone along with subordinate
conglomerate and volcaniclastic rock. The sandstone is typically moderately to
well-sorted and very fine- to very coarse-grained. The mudstone is dark grey to
black, likely organic-rich and typically displays either a faint parallek
lamination or mottling. Isolated erosive-based units are developed locally,
characterized by immature, very poorly sorted, fine- to very coarse-grained,
angular, quartz-rich sandstone.

3.2 Permian and Triassic Plutons

-five plutons of Permo-Triassic age
-a centre (Bukit Timah Centre), within which those five Permo-Triassic
plutons are gruped
-a dyke-swam, which encompasses numerous unnamed sheets of mafic igneous rock that
cut the Permo-Triassic plutons
-one pluton of Creataceous age, which is clearly unrelated to the earlier
intrusions

i) Choa Chu Kang Granodiorite-tonalite Pluton
The Choa Chu Kang Granodiorite-tonalite Pluton is a newly identified lithodemic
unit that consist almost entirely of light- to medium-grey granodiorite and
tonalite. Blocks of glass metasandstone up to several metres aross, which are rare
generally but abundant locally in Punggol and have sharp, apparently un-chilled
contacts with the host granitic rock, are interpreted and to be xenoliths derived
from the Sajahat Formation and incorporated as blocks into the intruding magma.
ii) Gombak Gabbro-granite Pluton
Four main lithologies and lithological associations can be recognized within the
lithologically variable Gombak Gabbro-granite Pluton.
