<Correction>
In <Machines with the Improved Dryer Rack Unit> on the next page, it was found that the LP-5500
serial number was incorrect. The correction is as described below.

The dryer rack unit will be improved as described below.
<Improvements>
1. As described in MTI No. ED730 “COUNTERMEASURE AGAINST PAPER JAMMING IN DRYER BELT
UNIT OF DRYER SECTION”, improvement of the dryer belt unit (with a new dryer belt tensioning
mechanism) and dryer mesh belt (with annealing treatment) has been made. However, it has been found
that even if the improved dryer rack unit is used, the mesh belt may suffer from shrinkage in the
paper-width direction after continuous processing, causing belt skewing. As a countermeasure, the dryer
mesh belt has been changed to a fine-mesh type to improve stiffness in the paper-width direction,
preventing the mesh belt from skewing. In addition, the dryer entrance roller will be changed to an
absorbent roller (Rubycell roller) to prevent dirt from adhering to the mesh belt.
Affected machines: LP-5500: B#5001 to B#6057, LP-5700: B#5001 to B#7456
2. The load torque of the dryer rack unit may increase due to thermal expansion, damaging the gears in the
dryer rack unit that rotate at a high speed. As a countermeasure, the tensioner of the dryer rack unit has
been changed from a fixed tensioner to an auto tensioner to prevent damage to the gears due to the
increased load torque. In addition, with regard to the affected machines described below, the five gears in
the dryer rack unit need to be replaced because the gear teeth may already be damaged.
Note: The material of the (five) gears has not been changed.
Affected machines: LP-5500: B#5001 to B#5145, LP-5700: B#5001 to B#6586

<User Maintenance>
After converting the dryer entrance roller (converting to the Rubycell roller), the cleaning procedure and
maintenance interval regarding the dryer entrance roller and dryer mesh belt will be changed.

[Change of Cleaning Procedure]

Please instruct the user to follow the procedure described in <Appendix 2: FRONTIER550/570 Washing the
Dryer Entrance Roller/Cleaning the Dryer Rack Mesh Belt>.

Changed Items:
1. The dryer entrance roller is cleaned by using the dedicated roller cleaning jig. If the dryer entrance roller is not
cleaned at regular intervals, the roller becomes hardened and water removal may become insufficient.
Please instruct the user to wash the dryer entrance roller at regular intervals because the hardened roller
does not return to the original state even if it is cleaned.

2. The dryer mesh belt is cleaned by using a cloth moistened water and wrung lightly. For this reason, a
dedicated tray is used to prevent the dryer heater from getting wet.

[Change of Maintenance Interval]

The maintenance interval varies depending on the number of prints as shown in the table below.
Average: Average: Average:
Printing quantities/day
10,000 prints/day 5,000 prints/day 2,000 prints/day
