Building With a Positive Footprint

nai010 publishers 2022 ISBN 9789462087453 Acqn 32928
Hb 24x32cm 304pp col ills £22

Is the world better off with your building? In 99.9% of cases the answer is "No". Almost every
building pollutes the air, water, and soil and damages biodiversity. What if we turned that around
and focused on making a positive contribution? If buildings purify, create biodiversity, and
generate more energy than we use, then we can perhaps heal the world with our buildings.
'Building with a Positive Footprint' offers an accessible explanation for the construction industry
on how to build in a radically sustainable way and outlines why this is not yet happening.

catalogue. It includes both new and old brick artworks from more than 50 artists, architects, and
designers from around the world. Additionally, seven makers were specially invited to create brick

his concerns: the artistic dimension, the artisanal character, and the civic spirit of the profession.

or stage of life: the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, The Forum in New

Arquitectura Viva 246 - Dorte Mandrup

An early interest in ceramics and sculpture continues to palpitate in the importance that Dorte
Mandrup gives to form in each and every one of her projects, all of which are capable of
complying with a delicate context, a demanding program, or a strong building tradition without
sacrificing personal expression. Arquitectura Viva presents this impulse through four works
located in Scandinavian countries that reflect the Danish architect's keen sensitivity in choosing
materials and dissolving them in the landscape: the Raa Preschool in Helsingborg (Sweden), the
Wadden Sea Center in Riba (Denmark), the Icefjord Visitor Center in Ilulisaat (Greeland), and the
acclaimed project for The Whale Cultural Center in Andenes (Norway).

nai010 publishers 2022 ISBN 9789462087439 Acqn 33010
Hb 22x29cm 192pp col ills £39

Since 1890, the Royal Museum of FIne Arts in Antwerp has been home to a rich collection
spanning over seven centuries of art history; from the Flemish Primitives to Expressionists. More
recently, the Museum has been enriched by another treasure by the Dutch architectural firm
KAAN Architecten. Their restoration work and new design combine a contemporary allure with
the glorious but somewhat neglected beauty of the 19th-century landmark. Completely conceiled
within the existing museum, the new extension underlines the strength of the original building and
its role as heritage witin the rapidly changing city. These contrasting yet dialoguing spaces
coexist as two different worlds in one building. The renovation and extension bring together the
past, the present and the future in a layered ensemble of time, architecture, history and art.
