● Daniel Bernoulli found that the faster a fluid
moves the less pressure it exerts
● Bernoulli’s principle – The pressure exerted
by a moving fluid is less than the pressure
of the surrounding fluid
● Things move from area of high pressure to
low pressure
 How airplane’s fly
● Wing is curved on top
● The air makes it over top
and bottom at the same
time
● Air must move faster to go
over the top curve.
● Top has less pressure
because of Bernoulli
principle
● This makes “lift”
