INTERPRETATION

“Scheduled wastes” means any waste falling within


the categories of waste in the First Schedule under
Environmental Quality Act (Scheduled Wastes)
Regulations 2005.

RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibility of waste generator (Regulation 8)

➢Waste generator shall ensure that schedule waste


are :
✓ properly packed, labelled & stored
✓ treated/recovered on-site, or safely delivered and
received at prescribed premises

STORAGE
• Storage of scheduled wastes must be (Regulation 9):

• Compatible and durable container


• Incompatible schedule waste in saparate
container and in separate containment area
• Schedule waste container shall always be closed
• Proper schedule waste storage area to prevent
spillage into the environment
• Waste generator may store schedule waste up to
180 days or 20 tonnes

LABELLING
• Labelling of scheduled wastes (Regulation 10)
(First Schedule and Third Schedule):

• Date the schedule waste are first generated, name,


address and telephone number of waste generator shall
be clearly mark on the container.

• Schedule waste container shall be clearly labelled and


marked with code.

SCHEDULED WASTE CODE
First Schedule (Regulations 2)

SW Code Description
Metal and metal-bearing wastes
SW 1
e.g SW 101- Waste containing arsenic or its compound
Wastes containing principally inorganic constituents which may
SW 2 contain metals and organic materials
e.g SW 201- Asbestos wastes in sludges, dust or fibre forms
Wastes containing principally organic constituents which may
SW 3 contain metals and inorganic materials
e.g SW 306 - Spent hydraulic oil
Wastes which may contain either inorganic or organic constituents

e.g SW 417 - Waste of inks, paints, pigments, lacquer, dye or varnish

INTERPRETATION

• "pesticide" means
• (a) any substance that contains an active ingredient; or
any preparation, mixture or material that contains any
one or more of the active ingredients as one of its
constituents,
• but does not include contaminated food or any article
listed in the Second Schedule;

LABELLING REQUIREMENT

Purpose of classification of pesticide

• To differentiate toxicity effect/poisonous


• As a rank order between more hazardous and
less hazardous pesticides
• Level of poisonous can be determine through
animal test

HIGHLY TOXIC PESTICIDES

Definition:

• Any substance listed in First Schedule; or

• Any preparation or mixture which contains any one of the


substance or more

washbasin and cement floor for washing of protective
clothing and equipment
