Aging is just another word for living

The objective of this report is to know how young people feel about aging and how they
perceive older people in their community through surveys. Also, recommendations are given
about how they can change this type of judgment.

After discussing with young people about their attitudes towards aging, it can be seen that
approximately 80 percent are afraid of their own autonomy, since they think they will have to
depend on another person for their care. Also, 70 percent think that with the passage of time
their intellectual capacities will be affected.
Even so, there is 20 percent who think that it is a natural process that we all go through and
that there is nothing to worry about, however this figure is very low compared to the previous
ones.

On the other hand, 60 percent of young people feel that most older people have deep-
seated thoughts causing conflict by not accepting some recent social changes or sticking to
ideas of their time that are currently poorly perceived. However, they all agree that they have
older adults in their social circle, generally family members who do not attribute these
stereotypes to them.

The recommendations given were that most of the ideas given are stereotypes about old
age and that as long as you follow a healthy and prudent lifestyle during youth, you will not
eventually suffer.

In the same way, that everything depends on our attitude towards life and that age is not an
impediment at all, we should focus on positive aspects instead of thinking about the
disadvantages.
