INTRODUCTION
A balanced diet consisting of the proper quantities and proportions of foods needed to maintain
health or growth. Moreover, it is a diet that furnishes in proper proportions all of the nutrients
necessary for adequate nutrition. It contains the proper proportions
of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water necessary to maintain good health.
(Source: dictionary.com). The focus of my research will be on how less teenagers know about
balanced diet and how important it is to consume a balanced diet.
Bangladesh is a country where literacy rate is not the highest and with a growing teenager base,
it is important for them to know and be more conscious about their health as Bangladeshi people
suffer from poor body shape and health. I would like to know how important balanced diet is in
Bangladeshi household and weather they are having a balanced proportion of the diet on
everyday basis. I wonder if the education system made any difference or effort to teach them
about balanced diet; whether teenagers were ignorant or uninterested about it; what factors
motivate the teenagers to implement a balanced diet. I hope to find answers to such questions
through my research work.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
In my research I plan to investigate the importance of balanced diet for teenagers. My research
will address the following research questions:
1. What they know about balanced diet and its components?
HYPOTHESIS
A balanced diet is topic often ignored and not followed. From my research, I expect to find that
teenager are not that aware of balanced diet and they do not even follow a proper meal. I think
most will blame it on the education system or their parents not telling them about it. I also expect
that teenagers would shift their blame on others than themselves.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
For my primary research, I will conduct a survey of a representative sampling of the teenagers in
Dhaka and interview them. To that end I will design a questionnaire with different types of
questions so as to get a range of useful data which will help me to answer my research questions.
For my secondary research, I plan to use the resources of the library and will also look into few
books about balanced diet, consult health professionals, etc. I will also browse the internet and
use standard search engines like Google.

ORGANIZATION
My paper will be divided into several sections, the most important of which are the introduction,
Background, Data Presentation and Analysis, and Summary of Findings. Within the sections my
organization will be based on my research questions.
TIMETABLE
I hope to complete my primary research by the end of July, and my secondary research by Mid-
August. I shall complete writing the final draft of my Research Paper by early September, and
submit it by the specified deadline towards the end of this semester.
I hereby request your approval for my research proposal. If you wish me to modify or improve
my proposal, I will submit it after incorporating the necessary changes. I would also be grateful
for your advice and help in conducting my research and completing the project.
